the best thing about the property was the view! the view is amazing! I also loved Hernal, I think I am messing his name up completely. He was the Bartendar, check in personnel and he was taking orders but always with a good attitude. it was also very close to town.
even though there wasn’t a lot of people it was still short handed. if the Bartendar was gone checking someone in then we just sit there and wait for drinks! The older lady that was there, the owners wife I guess, has a nasty attitude and not welcoming at all! it wasn’t as people hyped it up to be!

The place was incredible, excellent view, truly nice pool, excellent service and the room was very clean with everything working. The road leading to the hotel was fixed!
The pool had a bit more chlorine vs what I prefer but It was OK, prices on food were a bit on the high side

The room was gorgeous, with an absolutely stunning view of the surroundings. The property is simply beautiful. We also enjoyed our conversations with the staff, especially Roger.
The restaurant could use some improvement. The food is okay but menu is quite limited.

I think Europeans have no idea how much work is put to keep the jungle lodge clean and without the unnecessary "jungle "! We came in right before the season and felt privileged to stay here. We felt like we were the only ones at the huge villa with awesome stuff. Also, renting out Quad was amazing experience! Suggestion, because walking is workout!

incredible sunset views, staff were great too.
not sure if there was supposed to be no Wi-Fi in the room, or maybe it just didn’t reach our room? was Wi-Fi at the pool so just did anything we needed to do there but would be handy to have it in the room too

The location is perfect for people who value quietness, comfort, beautiful views and feeling close to nature. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We felt the villa we staid in was very “Costa Rican style” with a luxurious jungle vibe. The pool view is just stunning!

The location is amazing with first class views. All of the staff are very friendly. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. Having a cocktail in the pool during sunset is the definition of relaxation..
The road towards the property is a bit of a pain in the ass. Especially after a lot of rain.

The location is exceptional and so are the staff

Modern, fresh, newly refurbished room - nicely decorated, convenient, roomy. Comfortable beds. Great view from the main terrace of the hotel. Friendly, easy-going owner.
Value is great but money paid for it is not proportionate to level of service you receive - pool was closed (it was never explained why, breakfast very basic, staff was very unwelcoming on our arrival). Steep uphill drive to get to the property.

Very welcoming staff, wonderful room and excellent facilities (air con, good shower, safety box, fridge and coffee machine in room), great food and cocktails, amazing infinity pool, good breakfast included consisting of fruit, toast, gallo pinto and scrambled eggs, coffee and juice.
This hotel is up a steep dusty hill and is a long walk from the main strip of shops and restaurants in Santa Teresa so taxis/ATVs are required to get around if you’re staying for more than one night.

The pool with swim upto bar. the facilities and the amazing view.
Accommodation was spacious, had a coffee machine & a private terrace to enjoy the view.
You do need transport to get around from the hotel.ATV’s can be rented here.

We loved our stay at Vista de Olas! Roger, the owner, was very welcoming and kind and always made sure we had everything we needed. The staff was friendly and always smiling. The view from the pool was absolutely gorgeous. The food was good, the free breakfast was good. Our room was very spacious and we particularly liked the outdoor bathroom, taking a shower under the moonlight was a highlight. The bed was comfortable and the view from our room was amazing.
The location - you definitely need not only a car but a 4x4 to get to the hotel. We had a small Hyundai rental car and couldn't get it up the hill. We had to park on the dirt road and walk up the hill, which was really not that bad but it's worth mentioning. Roger was kind enough to give us a ride on his ATV to pick our luggage up from the car at check-in and he showed us where we could safely park our car on the side of road which we really appreciated. The location of the hotel is not really walk-friendly: you need a car to get around easily. But apart from that we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend!

Location was amazing. Some of the best views in the area. As with all high viewpoints in the area, 4x4 definitely needed, but road is not as bad as some of the others in Santa Teresa. Some earlier reviews we saw mentioned complaints with the staff, but we found them nothing other than incredibly helpful and thoughtful. Outdoor shows and views of the ocean off our patio, we would stay here again in a second.

Amazing view from the pool / restaurant area. The small scale resort is 30 minutes walking distance from the busy village. You don’t want to be in the village, too much traffic and dusty roads.
The hill was to steep and slippery for our (not terrain suitable) rental car, just park halfway up.
The picture perfect seeview with a gorgeous sunset and whales (!) is absolutely worth the climb.
Very nice tropical rooms, tasteful and comfortable. Very nice people too, sweet woman at the bar and restaurant, and the owner is also really friendly and laidback. The gardens are beautiful and not too designed, surrounded by the tropical forest. The outdoor shower is great.
We stayed 4 days but i would have loved to stay longer to try surfing.
Not a cheap cabin to stay, but surely worth the rates. Food and drinks reasonably priced too.
Highly recommendable.
The roads to the village and the last bit up to Vista de Olas are partly unpaved and at times quite scary if you’re not used to that. With a regular car it’s doable but all the locals use quads or 4 wheel drive jeeps.

pool, view of the beach, ocean, sunset…intimate and relaxing. amazing hosts

Best view and pool area hands down. One of those spots you want your dreamy instagram pictures taken at. The staff was generally friendly and helpful.
The road up to the hotel was nightmarish. Worst road I’ve experienced in Costa Rica. I had a two wheel suv which barely made it up. Definitely a 4*4 kind of place.
I had a terrible experience with the host Roger, who urged me to leave after I a second time told him my room smelled moldy/of mildew. The staff made a big effort to clean the room thoroughly, and I appreciate that effort. But the place still smelled of mold, and the host Roger ”lost it” when I told him that (very calmly) and urged me to leave. After that there was no way I was staying there longer, so I left.

The view is beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful.
It is situated at the top of a dirt road that is nearly impossibly to drive unless you have a 4x4

The views, pool and bar of the hotel are amazing. Also the rooms are very charming with great view. You the breath the local "Pura Vida" vibe.
Also my credits to the owner and his team, they were very helpful and kind to all guests. It's like a family.
Not a lot to say. Maybe a bit more choice in breakfast but as it is good, it is not something necessary.

ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING.
We booked a week in paradise which was both a good idea as the experience was incredible, but also maybe a bad idea because the rest of our trip seemed to never live up to our standards and expectations after spending a week in Vista de Olas !!
Nothing, no false note.
