We found ourselves with an unexpected overnight in Carcassonne. La Bastide was centrally based and very reasonably priced. We had a superior room with an outdoor terrace - in the summer or if you were there for the TDF, that (huge!) terrace would be a perfect place to relax away from the bustle. Big bonus for me is that the room had a kettle. Very helpful and friendly on reception. It's a no frills place but absolutely perfect if you're looking for a decent price, cleanliness and centrality. Breakfast 11 Euros was good.
