Ok, I was working my way down to Irun from Paris for what I will call a "survey course" of the Camino Norte because I only had two weeks for the pilgrimage and not five. My initial plan had been to go Paris to Bayonne and pass through Biarritz but after an unnecessary (and disappointing) stay in Dax the Spirit put me right back on the train when I saw a lot of sundry folk outside the Bahnhof in Bayonne. Well, the Spirit or the spirits (Campari?) did me right and I enjoyed a very nice midday stroll along the strand in Biarritz and needed to find a room on the quick. Availability wasn't great but I wasn't in the mood for being closer to the road out than the centre of town so I bit the bullet and booked the St. James which was probably €10 more per night than I wanted to spend but it was proximate to the beach and what Irishman isn't hooked by the name St. James! Or better, yer what 'pellegrino' isn't hoked by the name St. James on their way to Santiago.
Anyway, I booked the St. James, had a great burger and beer at the restaurant downstairs then was checked in by my accommodating hosts. The bed was very comfy, the decor was soothing and the room was very quiet. The shower was nice and warm though as I note below there was no shower curtain in me and my inner landlord wanted to scream.

Great hotel. Clean and comfortable with lovely helpful and friendly staff. Great location, lots of places for food and drink nearby, close to beach and shopping. Busy area but quiet in rooms due to good double glazing. Facilities great, check in and check out very simple and smooth. Would definitely stay here again.

The location was in the old part of the city and central to everything.
The shower was very low so I hit my head on the ceiling
