The baths were very nice, especially the private bath and hot stone room on the roof. It was great to have a private outdoor bath that comes with the room.
The dinner was the same both days. The hotel could be updated.

The private onsen was absolutely amazing, with a great view, the staff was very kind and attentive to every detail. The restaurant has amazing views over Hakone and the whole experience was incredible. The bed was so comfortable. We recommend it!
The person that accompanied us was really kind but couldn't speak English so well so we had some trouble understanding for example what we were eating at dinner.

Good location and beautiful setting. The private pool had a beautiful view.
The public hot spring pool was very small and dingy and in need of serious improvement. There was no steam or sauna. While the service was impeccable, I would rate the meals as average compared with other ryokans. The room itself was spacious but there was only one comfortable chair to longe in. The futons were thin and the pillow was hard, so I didn't sleep well at all. Wish I had better things to say, but this ryokan is in need of some improvements.

The dinner and breakfast were out of this world! That was one of our favorite experiences from our entire trip. The private onsen was also amazing! Perfect after a long day of travel and site seeing. The staff is also incredibly accommodating, even though they didn't know much English they made sure to get us everything we needed. I will definitely come back here one day.
It is a bit pricey, but I still think the experience was worth it!

the hotspring was good and the room was quite properly set up.
the hotel lied and tried to defraud us with extra room charges at checkin which could be exact the same amount that I paid thru Booking.com. (meaning we need to pay double for staying here)
the hotel claimed they only received one guest per room booking however the confirmation and the price breakdown shows that I have paid for exactly 2 ppl per room and two rooms in total. they have not only tried to defraud but they have also
held us up at the front desk for 2+hrs at checkin and 1+ hrs at checkout. the hotel has no ability to escort international guests nor OTA guests, the hotel asked us to contact booking.com ourselves instead of them calling booking. they have negatively affected our mood and our schedule planning. very disappointed that such a high rated hotel and charged with such high price would be so unprofessional and even dishonest.

Staying at this ryokan was the highlight of our trip to Japan! We loved our private onsen the most. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed, and a yukata was provided for us to wear. The staff member named May took care of us throughout our stay - she was very kind, wonderful, and definitely enhanced our experience. She served us our meals too. Dinner (kaiseki) and breakfast were not only tasty but absolutely beautiful in presentation. We were in awe of every dish. This ryokan is truly a one-of-a-kind experience, and we would highly recommend staying here on your trip to Hakone!

The breakfast was amazing, I was able to request both dinner and breakfast without any fish as my boyfriend and I do not eat fish, which was great.

Close to Sounzan station. Small ryokan with 8 rooms, each with private room-designated onsen which is a short walk within the property. Wonderful food and hospitality - we had lobster, abalone, crab, beef in addition to the kaiseki meals. Intimate Japanese experience!
For a 13+ year property, it has charm. Some facilities are slightly worn (faucets) and hot water may need some time to fire up. Part of ambience & charm. It otherwise has modernised, Wi-Fi is available, air/con and heaters in room
