Fancy Fireflies - Charming studio cabin amidst the trees right on Lake Hayward!
About this cabin rental
Nestled in Hayward, this attractive cabin for $108 per night is a great choice for your next break. Surrounded by trees, settled right on Lake Hayward sits this charming & cozy cabin in a little cabin community less than half a mile from downtown Hayward. Launch your canoe just steps from the cabin's entrance, bike into town for lunch, or go hiking or skiing on the nearby trails, this cabin is nestled in the perfect location! This is a cozy, studio size cabin with one queen bed, bathroom, kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee, & outdoor grill. This is a perfect little cabin right in the heart of Hayward with easy access to everything you will want to do during your stay here! We take pride in doing our best to make your stay a wonderful experience whether you're planning to use the cabin as your base camp while you explore Hayward and the surrounding areas or decide to stay in, relax, and unwind. We are constantly making improvements and upgrades to make your stay that much more enjoyable. Don't be fooled - it looks like there are 2 entrances here - but the second door is just a storage room. This is your own private cabin! Easy access using a key code & key. We love & have lots of dogs and know how important it is to bring your pooch along on your adventure. We are pet-friendly but please let us know if you plan to bring yours, as we do charge a cleaning fee ($30 per dog or cat for the total stay). We may have to send you a separate request for this payment. We ask that you clean up after your dog (inside the cabin & outside), and do not leave your dog unattended in the cabin unless kenneled. We provide the essentials - bath towels, shampoo/conditioner, soap, dish soap, coffee mugs, plates, utensils. We have a Keurig coffee maker with coffee, sugar and creamer for you. We have a small fridge, microwave, toaster, griddle and sink. There is an outdoor grill, you will need to bring charcoal & lighter fluid. This is a small cabin community with 8 cabins in total and some common/shared spaces - there are 2 community firepits that are for you to use, picnic tables, and multiple docks. You can bring and launch your canoe or kayak right here on the water. FAQS: Q: Can we check-in early or check-out late? A: It depends. Check in is at 3pm. Ask me and we will do our best to let you know as soon as your cabin is available. We and our cleaning staff have strict protocols to follow and can't always have the cabin ready earlier than 3pm. Feel free to use the common grounds such as the firepits, docks, and shoreline beforehand but please allow our cleaning crew the space they need to properly prepare your space. Q: Is there WiFi and is it any good? A: Yes and yes! We upgraded our router in 2020. We've had many guests stay and "work from home" and students that complete their coursework from the cabin without a single complaint. Q: Do we have cable TV? A: No, not anymore. We have smart TVs so you can log in to your favorite streaming services. Just remember to log out before you leave. Q: Do we provide firewood for campfires? A: No, however you can purchase firewood at several local convenience stores and grocery stores for $5-6 per bundle. You may also see signs on the drive up to purchase firewood at various residences. There are strict regulations against transporting firewood from other areas so please don't do that. Often times previous guests will leave unused firewood behind so you might just get lucky and not need to purchase any at all. We also don't provide matches/lighters. Q: Is the water safe to drink? A: Yes! We are on the city water line so it is safe to drink and cook with. There is both hot and cold water. Q: Do I have to clean up before I check-out? A: Uh, no. That's our job! Just enjoy your stay. Leave ALL used dishes/silverware out so they can be sanitized. Don't worry about making the bed because we're replacing the linens anyway. Please just lock the door and restore the key in the key box. Q: Why is the cleaning fee so expensive? A: Although the cabin is small, it takes a while to change the linen, restock, sanitize dishes, mop, etc. We try to pay our cleaning crew a livable wage and add in the expense of laundry and common items we supply and it adds up very quickly. We don't make or attempt to make any profit off of the cleaning expense. Q: Are the other cabins grouped close together? A: Yes, the cabins are grouped closely. You can get a sense by looking through all the photos we have posted. Not all cabins on the premises are rented/rentable however. Q: Is it a contactless check-in? A: Yes, it is self check-in and check-out. You will receive a code to access the cabin key in a lockbox. Please return the key when you leave. It's that simple! Q: Can I swim in the lake? Is there a beach? A: We have a shoreline with 3 docks but the water gets deep pretty quickly off the shoreline. There are a few spots where it's a little shallower. For a true sandy beach, head to Hayward City Beach which is less than one mile from the cabin. Q: Does the cabin have good heat? A: Yes it does! We recently upgraded to mini-split heater/AC units. The heating and cooling is simply remote controlled and responds much faster than our previous heating system. Q: Where's the flat sheet on the bed? A: Keeping with the European-style theme, the bed has a duvet. We change and clean ALL linens after every stay and take great pride in our cleanliness. We also have an extra blanket stored if you need it. Q: Is there enough room to park a boat/trailer? A: Yes! The parking area is large enough for several vehicles. If you have a trailer, you can back in park in three different areas. We just ask that you not block anyone else in. Q: Do we have a boat landing? A: No, not at our location however there is a public boat launch about a half mile away. You can launch your boat there and tie it down on one of our docks! It's much less than a half mile by boat from the launch to the docks. Q: What kind of fish are in Lake Hayward? A: Musky, panfish, Bass, Northern Pike, Trout, and Walleye. Q: Do we have boat or canoe/kayak rentals? A: No, we don't however Hayward Outfitters/Hayward Water Sports does and they are less than a half mile away, right next to the boat launch. Q: Are there hiking trails nearby? A: There is a paved trail near the parking area for a brief, leisurely stroll. Otherwise check out the Hayward Chamber of Commerce site for hiking and other outdoor activities. Q: Are there ATV/Snowmobile trails close by? A: Yes. Trail access is just across the street from the parking area. You can find trail maps on the Hayward Lakes site or Sawyer County Alliance site. Q: Are there any good places to eat? A: Of course! We can't give recommendations but suggest you check out the Hayward Chamber of Commerce site for local dining options. If you have any other questions, I'd be glad to answer them!

unhappy with the moldy shower curtain, and mold strings hanging out of kitchen faucet when it was turned on, lack of chair to sit on inside the cabin. to many cabins crowed into a small area. we actually left one day early.

We stayed in the Firefly cabin for an anniversary getaway. The location is perfect - within walking distance from downtown, right on the bike trail, but yet very secluded and in the woods. The cabin was clean & communication with host was great! We loved this cozy little cabin!

Absolutely enjoyed our stay, the cabin was perfect for just my husband and I. It was nice to have a little more private space compared to a hotel, and also have outdoor space. Enjoyed coffee every morning on the porch. There were 3 other cabins booked near us and we had no issues, even when we all were outside at the same time, we still felt like we had privacy. Definitely will stay there again!

It met my needs and was what I expected.

Very quiet and cabin was clean. Wish it would have stated to bring lawn chairs ours only had a wood bench and two table benches, no seating around the lake.

The cabin is very cute! It had everything we needed for our stay! The bed was super comfortable! The location was ideal as it is located right next to everything in town.

Loved our stay at the cabin. Comfy bed!

Property was great. Probably way better in other seasons. Kind of a wet, snowy, icy walk with our stuff (certainly not the owners fault - just winter/spring). Other than that - everything was great!

This place is super cute - small which was fine for me. It was in a great location and super easy for me to do all the visiting that I had planned. I would bring slippers - the floors are pretty cold!

A perfect place for a romantic get away. Relaxing, cozy and everything it states is just the way it is.

We decided last minute to take a trip to northern Wisconsin. There were not many choices for available lodging, so must admit expectations were low. Boy were we blown away, by not just the property but the setting as well. We wish we would have stayed an additional night or two. We Will Be Back!

We will come back to this cabin. Super easy to get to, near all shops and restaurants. The bed was so comfortable and at night it was so peaceful and quiet. Great communication.

Easy, as advertised. Very cute. Like the attention to thematic detail. A cabin compound but still private. Good area for food and drink. Kayaked on the Namekegon River.

Property was well located within walking distance to Hayward’s shops and restaurants. This allowed my wife, who does not fish the opportunity to enjoy the area.

Great getaway
Great getaway with amenities in one direction and lake in the other. Loved the outside porch area to watch the sunrise and sunset.

Cozy cabin
Overall the cabin was clean and the property is nice. A few things to note:
1. Fire pit is not located in front of cabin, but rather in front of another cabin that is being rented. Kind of awkward.
2. The river is about 100 yards away and you can only use a kayak, canoe or paddle board.
3. The cabin is quite cozy (aka small).
4. Property managers were at our cabin fairly early to get into the supply closet (located in/next to the cabin).
Located in a great central spot and the property is well cared for. We had just hoped for a little more space and things to do while outside at the cabin. I think it’d be a great cabin for snowmobiling in the winter.

Great place to stay!
This was a perfect place for myself, my husband, and our two dogs to stay. It's a very quiet location but you're less than half a mile from town. Everyone in the other cabins were also quiet, courteous, and friendly. There is a walking path right on the road which was a perfect place to walk the dogs in the morning and at night. The place itself was super clean. Check in and out was very easy.

Cute Cabin in the Woods
Cute, cozy and nicely furnished cabin. In the woods - but so close to town. When there you feel like you are out in the woods. Very nice setting, and quiet. Matthew the host was very responsive to our needs. If back in the Hayward area we’d like to stay again.

Enjoyable Anniversary
My husband and I chose this property for the 2nd half of our anniversary weekend. We loved the fact that downtown was walking distance. We also cast a few lines off of the shared dock. The Cabin was big enough for the two of us, without being more than we needed. There were a few cleanliness issues, but we'd still probably come again.

Beautiful Place and Cabin
The cabin was beautiful, very comfy and cozy. Hayward was within walking distance without feeling like staying in town. You felt like you were still in the woods.

The Firefly cabin.
It was a cozy ,exceptionally clean little cabin. The bed was so comfy. We were quite impressed with the many little touches that made us feel so welcome, the fall decor, mints on our bath towels and little treat basket. Would we book here again? Most definitely!
