The historic cabin has since been expanded and updated to include all the modern comforts of home. There is surely something here for everyone! Relax outside in the hammock overlooking the river at sunrise or try your hand at crabbing, fishing, or kayaking*. In the evening, treat yourself to s'mores over the rustic fire pit while star gazing or play some board games snuggled up together or put your feet up with a great movie on the large flatscreen. If you're looking for a change of scenery, you are minutes away from the Jacksonville Zoo or the sites and museums in downtown Jacksonville. Every historic First Coast location is within your grasp. This property comes equipped with crab traps, fishing poles, and beach towels & chairs for your entertainment. If you would like to bring your boat, ask about the use of the 10,000 lb. boat lift to keep your boat high and dry or rent a captained boat for the day and enjoy a day on the majestic rivers of Jacksonville. We invite you to come visit this historic riverfront hideaway! (*Note: kayak rental is an add'l fee of $75 + tax per stay).

Loved everything about staying here. Being on the river is amazing, and the house is so comfy. We came to have Thanksgiving with our family and having our own place to stay was great. See you next month!

We loved staying here! It had everything we needed for a peaceful and enjoyable week. Staying on the river allowed us to fish and enjoy the scenery. The yard was lovely and private.
We would definitely stay again. Thank you!

We were visiting my nephew who moved to Jacksonville earlier this year for his birthday and needed a place to just be together. This was the perfect spot, fishing, campfire, relaxing and game night. It was the perfect home base with plenty of space to enjoy each other and take time alone. The hosts were responsive and we will definitely stay here again.

This is our second year staying at the Hideaway. The property is amazing, and Beata and Chris are amazing owners. As always, I hate to share with everyone how special this place is, as it feels like our own special spot. Imagine waking up ever morning to a beautiful waterview, and ending your day with amazing sunsets reflecting off the river. And the cabin feel.... we love it. Great property. Great owners. Amazing place! Thank you for another great vacation. Hope to visit our special spot next year.

The property had everything you need for great getaway. Boat lift was great for boat and makes it easy launch for each day and only shoe ride to trout river. Outside had great porch, deck, grill and dock area. Inside had everything you needed from TVs, internet, and plenty of sitting for dinning and relaxing. It was an enjoyable trip and owner very responsive to questions.

The home is beautiful. The house was clean and had everything we needed to have a great stay. Great outdoor area for our dog. We loved fishing off the dock and the boat lift worked wonderfully.

The moment you walk through the gate you will never want to leave! This was exactly the breath of fresh air much needed by our family! Sure, the beach is a quick drive, but we loved the River House so much more! Nature, a hammock by the river, fishing and crabbing by the dock just steps from your door! Instantly at home here!

Wonderful getaway on the river in North Jacksonville, so peaceful and quiet! The look and history of the cabin is really neat. The yard is larger than it looks in pics, fenced in for pets. The dock is absolutely wonderful to fish on-kept our teen girls busy. Fantastic fire pit & deck for tanning & hanging out. We’d love to return in winter & use the fireplace. Near the zoo, downtown attractions. 20-30 min from Neptune beach, really enjoyable!

This is the first time I have gone on vacation and was quite content to just stay at the cabin. We had everything we needed and were just as comfortable as being home except this was waayy more relaxing. We have every intention on visiting this wonderful place again. Thank you Beata for you hospitality!!

As others have said, you go through the gate and it's like you're in another world. Quiet, peaceful, and the property had everything we needed and then some! Excellent communication with the hosts as well.
We cooked dinner there almost every night and found the kitchen well stocked. Little things like the labels on lightswitches and shelves were so incredibly helpful. Very detailed information on the property and things to do in the area. I've stayed at a lot of rental properties and this one is definitely at the top of the list! We didn't want to leave!

We absolutely fell in love with this gem. My daughter has mobility issues and needs a wheelchair sometimes. It was easily accessabile with the wheelchair and I was able to wheel her down to the top deck to enjoy being outside at water's edge.
Everything we could possibly need was provided including all staples in the kitchen, lots of good quality cookware, utensils, dishes, etc.
Chris was especially helpful when I somehow pushed the wrong buttons on TV remote.
We enjoyed the dock and the bonus was actually catching several nice black drum.
We will certainly be back again.

This little cabin on the water was everything we could have ever imagined and more. We are a family who likes to just get to our destination and not have to fill our time with a lot of outings. We were able to do just that! The property is very quiet and close to grocery stores and a tackle shop, which is all we needed! Our 7 and 10 year old fished, crabbed, and had an awesome yard to play with our dog in. Truly one of the best vacations we’ve had. Thank you so much for such an amazing spot!

This sweet cabin provided the best spring break getaway for me, my 14yr old son and our sweet dog. It has everything you could possibly need. So peaceful and beautiful. The grounds are gorgeous and the cabin is just so special. We spent a lot of time out on fishing charters and it was so nice to come back to this peaceful retreat each day. Our dog Barkley had so much fun running around the yard with no leash. We would def stay here again!!

Enjoyed the river view and our time at the property. Check in and check out was seamless. Plenty of room and lots of games and books to keep us occupied.

Our trip did not play out as planned because one of our family members was admitted to the hospital at Mayo on our way into town — and we happened to be there during a “once in a generation” winter storm. That being said, this home ended up being our refuge during a tough week for our family. Our host, Beata, could not have been more gracious or helpful (despite being out of town herself). We are very much looking forward to a return trip (and fishing!) in warmer weather.

Older home but well equipped and great location on the water. Quiet area except for the highway traffic across the nearby bridge. Did not bother us after a while. Would definitely do it again.

The property is great and as advertised. Tons of games, beautiful riverfront, large wrap around deck, fenced yard for the pup. Everything you could want was in this house. Something for everyone. Beata responded to all my questions and was very easy to work with. We loved our stay and will go back again!

The cabin is very well equipped with all you will need to have a relaxing stay. It was spacious and clean. The gardens are large and beautiful. It seemed secluded even though it was near a city. The addition of being able to fish and use kayaks was great. The area is not typically touristy and I didn't feel safe walking around the area alone or in the dark but you will need a car anyway to stay here as Jacksonville is huge. Jacksonville itself is a great city, lots to do and it's really near the cabin. I recommend Cummer Art gallery, the art market and the zoo. It's only 50 mins from St Augustine which is well worth visiting. It was a memorable, wonderful family holiday.

This property is absolutely beautiful. The pictures and description of it are spot on. The location was perfect for taking day trips to various locations, including Jacksonville, Amelia Island, and St. Augustine. It has everything anyone would need. The hosts were always gracious and very easy to contact. I would stay there again.

We had a wonderful time at this great hideaway. We were a little nervous when we first arrived in this neighborhood, but the cottage was great and we had a wonderful time. Did a lot of fishing off the lock and really enjoyed. We hope to stay here again.

My family and I had an awesome time at this stay. We fished and crabbed most of the week and caught several crabs. Place was very clean and the kitchen is well stocked.

Everything was as described in advertisement of property. Pictures do not portray how secluded the home is even though it's in a very populated area! If you bring a boat be aware that you will need to use the boat lift because the dock is not floating! We will be back..

great relaxing spot
Driving in it looked like a cramped neighborhood but once you pass the gate it feels like you are in a world of your own. With all the options of things to do in Jacksonville it was hard to leave the relaxing atmosphere of this property. We brought our boat , the dock was great and boat launch ramp was very close by.

Wonderful river cabin
This property is one of the best VRBO rentals! I felt like I was at my family’s vacation home, it was so inviting. The home is lovely and comfortable. The yard is huge, perfect for our dogs to play and run. The dock was very clean and well maintained. Everything you could possibly need was on site, fully stocked kitchen, linens, toiletries, supplies, etc. The neighborhood felt safe and all of the neighbors we met were very friendly. We caught fish every day: several reds (one 26”!!) and catfish, croaker, and crabs. We took advantage of the sofa bed for watching movies on a rainy day…puzzles, games, and books were also available. Thank you for sharing this special place with us and allowing us to bring our dogs.

This is a lovely property. The house is large with every creature comfort one might envision. The beds are sufficiently hard so you can sleep on top rather than imbedded within. The kitchen is small but efficient. The living room is large with a comfortable couch & chairs. TVs in the LR and both bedrooms. The views are lovely and the grounds extensive and well appointed. A large dining room with a table that seats 8 comfortably. Wonderful porches at varied levels wrap partially around the house. Steps away from the house is the well appointed dock… replete with running water at the fish cleaning station. This house is ideal for a large family with kids. Batch rooms were perfect with showers with enviable water pressure. We failed at fishing but we did catch 7 crabs with their traps and had them for dinner. We’d never caught our own crabs before. A really grand experience. Kids would go nuts! Absolutely wonderful place. We have no negatives except it was bloody hot.

This place is amazing! We found the home warm and inviting. It was spotless. We’ve not booked a place in all our years of vacationing that was so clean. Anything you would ever want to do is close enough for a day trip. Beata and Chris were quick to respond when we had questions. A+++++. We look forward to bringing our family back next year.
