Unsafe, falsely advertised, and poorly maintained rental that ruined our vacation

Leaving

This was one of the worst vacation-rental experiences we have had. The property was not as advertised and had serious safety, maintenance, and cleanliness issues. For much of our stay, we had no reliable hot water, including no hot water in the kitchen. The balcony door lock was broken, leaving the unit unsecured with our valuables inside. Wi-Fi repeatedly stopped working (prepaid so she wasn't paying the bill), the living-room light was out, the shower hose leaked and had very little water pressure, and the balcony light did not work. There were roaches, no toilet paper or basic cleaning supplies when we arrived, and no proper mop or cleaning equipment. The listing advertised a washer and dryer, but we were never given access to them. After repeatedly asking, the cleaner said they did not work. The listing also advertised amenities that were not actually available, including the hot tub. We spent far too much of our vacation dealing with problems. Maintenance came about five times, repeatedly left saying they would return, and often did not come back. When maintenance finally returned near the end of the stay, he told us he had not returned because the host had not paid him. The host had ample notice of these problems from the first day, but basic repairs were delayed until almost the end of our stay—or were never properly resolved. Despite the unsafe conditions, missing amenities, repeated maintenance disruptions, and the time taken from our family vacation, the host offered only $16 USD for the trouble. That was unacceptable and insulting. We gave the host every opportunity to fix the problems and tried to be patient 70+ texts and no resolution, but this rental was unsafe, poorly maintained, falsely advertised, and badly managed. We would not stay here again and cannot recommend it. The host knew of many of these problems and did not take responsibility before our arrival. We gave her the benefit of the doubt far too long and should have left day 2.

Overall it was good for a short stay.

Overall it was good. It could have been excellent if the internet was working. There's no internet in our entire stay. The host was quick to respond about the problem, but I think the problem is the modem.

I don't like the kitchen stove. It is complicated to use and not a user friendly. The toilet is not flushing good. It was clogged. Im scared it will overflow.
