325 Delightful 2 bedroom Apt situated in typical Georgian Square
About this condo rental
Saxe Coburg Place is renowned as being one of Edinburgh's most perfect Georgian Squares. Quietly situated in the Stockbridge area of the New Town these elegant buildings are grouped round a pretty central garden, (I am afraid that this is not available to our guests). Located a twenty minute walk from the city centre Stockbridge has a very distinct character and offers a wonderful selection of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Local businesses include an excellent cheesemonger, butcher, wine merchant and fishmonger. St Stephen's Street is well known for its eclectic mix of Antique shops and fascinating boutiques. In this part town one is close to the wonderful open spaces of Inverleith Park and the Botanical Gardens. The Water of Leith meanders through Stockbridge and its walkway is well worth exploring - the energetic can walk either to Leith or out to the Modern Art Gallery and beyond. Keen swimmers have the Victorian Glenogle Baths on their doorstep. This drawing room apartment, sleeping four people, is situated on the first floor and has attractive leafy views both front and rear. An entrance hallway has rooms radiating off it. The beautifully proportioned sitting room, with lovely Georgian features, is at the front of the building and overlooks the attractive central garden. This room provides comfortable seating grouped round an attractive marble fireplace over which a large mirror hangs; enhancing the feeling of light and space. Large bookshelves house an interesting array of reading matter and there is also a TV with DVD Player making this a lovely spot in which to relax. Internet access is provided for the use of guests. A light and spacious dining kitchen has vistas towards the north of the city. A large table in the centre of the room provides ample seating for 4. The well designed kitchen has plenty of cupboards and workspace making this an ideal choice for those intending to make the most of using the local produce on offer and spend some time cooking. There is plenty of cookware, crockery and cutlery provided as well as a hob and oven, fridge, freezer, and dishwasher. The apartment has two comfortable bedrooms both with plenty of hanging and drawer space. The Master bedroom which is decorated in calming neutral tones has a double bed and overlooks the garden. A second twin bedroom is to the rear of the property and has beds which can be arranged as a superking on request. A hallway off the kitchen leads to a utility room with washer/drier and also to the very spacious bathroom with original wooden floors which has a bath with shower over, a w.c and wash hand basin. We booked the apartment at Saxe Coburg Place as we had already stayed in the nearby colonies a few month ago and knew that Stockbridge is the kind of community we wanted to have for an extended stay. The flat is cosy and well maintained, the heating works perfect, which is a must have considering the temperatures in winter time and the typical windows there. The kitchen was well equipped, a washing machine rounded up the at home feeling. The other tenants were not audible and the location offered an excellent chance to approach the sunday Stockbridge market or walk to downtown which we did daily. If not walking to town the Botanical Garden is just arround the corner. Everything went smooth. Maybe it would be nice to have a TV with Internet connection but we made it as well without.

Fabulous location, within easy walking distance to the New Town, Old Town, Botanic Gardens, and the beautiful Stockbridge.
The flat is very comfortable for a small family with everything you need for a short stay. Would have loved to have stayed longer.

We had a great stay. The neighborhood is great, loved walking to the botanic garden in the morning and there was good coffee + pastries nearby. I would recommend for families!

We stayed here with our family for a week while exploring Edinburgh and environs. It was a prefect home base to rest our tired legs after a day of adventures!

Once we figured out how to operate the keys in the door, entry was no problem. It was clean and comfy. A really nice large kitchen. Basics in the kitchen were spotty- no paper towel, no salt and pepper that we could find. But the appliances were nice. We were there for Hogmanay and were delighted to find that the flat’s windows provided a great view of the fireworks.

The home is beautiful, warm, comfortable and conveniently located. You can swim next door for exercise, visit wonderful neighborhood restaurants and shops, and walk to historic sites. I travel often but I consider this one of my best vacations. The staff were responsive and helpful. Thank you for making this a remarkable experience.

Our third time to Edinburgh. We really loved the location and were delighted with the decor and the property overall. Felt very homey and cozy - and also a bit tired. And what would make us love it more would be some simple welcoming touches such as more towels, directions to use the fireplace and the clothes washer (frustrating), refreshed kitchen utensils, pans, (some were broken including the fry pan and corkscrew), more recommendations for restaurants and things to do. We’d have loved to have known there was access to a pool. So we felt unprepared to enjoy it to the fullest. We hope this is helpful to you. It’s a delightful property and we had a lovely time overall.

Loved everything about this charming flat - it’s quiet location in a leafy gated park, walking distance to very fine restaurants & coffee shops nearby. A tiny quibble are the very small beds in tight rooms. Perhaps luggage racks might help to address tight floor space? Again this is a small suggestion. We were perfectly cozy & happy here. Thank You! Debra & son, Jamie Barr/ Beth & Bruce Sugarman
