We spent four wonderful days in Torquay with the family, staying at Flamingo Lodge, and what a fantastic experience it was!
Our lovely host, Babs, was an absolute delight! She was incredibly welcoming, friendly and warm-hearted, with a brilliant sense of humour. Chatting with her was always a pleasure, and she really made us feel at home.
Both check-in and check-out were incredibly straightforward and hassle-free. Another big bonus was the excellent on-site parking, which made everything so much more convenient.
Our rooms were cosy, comfortable and very well maintained. They had everything we needed, including a mini-fridge, mini-bar, TV, wardrobe and a lovely, clean bathroom. There was also a kettle with tea, coffee, sugar and glasses provided — all those little touches that make a stay feel extra special.
The shared kitchen was another fantastic feature, well equipped with everything you could possibly need to prepare your own meals.
What really made our stay memorable, though, was the wonderful atmosphere and the genuine hospitality. It's not every day you find somewhere that feels so welcoming and homely.
Four days simply weren't enough! If I ever go missing, you'll probably find me relaxing at Flamingo Lodge!
A huge thank you to Babs for making our family getaway so enjoyable. We had a brilliant time and would happily return.

Just One Tiny Suggestion – Those Speedy Doors! 🚪😄
Now, one tiny little observation — the doors seem to have a mind of their own, and they're certainly in a hurry to close!
A few soft-close mechanisms or little door buffers might work wonders in slowing down these enthusiastic speed demons before they announce themselves to the entire building!
We must confess that we accidentally let them slam shut a few times, probably earning ourselves a few disapproving looks from our fellow guests and perhaps a raised eyebrow from our lovely host, Babs. For that, we offer our sincere (and slightly embarrassed!) apologies.
Until we've mastered the ancient art of closing doors with the grace and silence of a ninja, we'll just have to hold on to them a little more carefully!
A tiny suggestion, offered with a big smile — and absolutely nothing that would stop us from coming back! 😄

Flamingo Lodge was perfect for my needs. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. The host was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. It was in the perfect location for my visit as it was right next to where I work.

The room was nicely decorated. Our host was very friendly. Keypad door locks are great.
The curtains did not meet and there is a streetlight outside the room. I was awake for most of the night due to the light pollution. There is not sound proofing. This is probably the noisiest guest house I have ever stayed in. We could hear the people in the next room and downstairs. Somebody was hammering downstairs before 8! The doors slam loudly. The water pressure to the hand basin is very poor with extremely slow flow. The shower head needs descaling. The shower tray is very slippery and I fell suffering bruising. There was no chocolate which was mentioned in the description !
