The 4 Vallées in winter: The vast 4 Vallées ski area stretches from the world-famous ski resort of Verbier in the west all the way to Les Collons in the east. Its size and diversity—with over 100 lifts and more than 400 km of slopes—make it a true paradise for every skier. The ski area is developed up to an altitude of 3,328 m and offers slopes of varying difficulty levels suitable for all skiers: from wide “highway runs” to extremely steep mogul runs (including those at Mont-Fort). The area is also very well-known and popular for its many deep-snow slopes and backcountry trails, though these are reserved for the “hardcore” enthusiasts. The entire ski area now has excellent artificial snow coverage, which generally ensures access to the various valleys even in winters with less snow.
The 4 Vallées in summer: the region has now also become a true “hotspot” for active visitors during the summer. In addition to designated mountain bike trails, it has also become a hub for the paragliding community.
The sophisticated and world-famous resort of Verbier (1,500 m) is situated in a sunny and peaceful valley basin; it offers a magnificent panoramic view of the mountains all the way to the Mont Blanc massif. The town offers a seemingly endless array of sports, recreational, and entertainment activities in both winter and summer:
In winter, highlights include its strategically advantageous location directly on the 3,328 m high Mont-Fort, featuring breathtaking—and in some cases very challenging—downhill runs. 20 km of cross-country trails in Verbier and the surrounding area, downhill and cross-country ski schools, a children’s ski school, an artificial ice rink, a fitness center (including squash and a sauna), and more. Many winter hiking and snowshoe trails. For après-ski enthusiasts, there are numerous mountain huts, bars, cafés, nightclubs, and restaurants.
In summer, it’s very popular due to its sunny location. An outdoor swimming pool (open mid-June through late August), nearly 30 km of marked hiking trails in town, marked mountain bike routes (bike rentals available), outdoor tennis courts, and paragliding. A small, local golf course. Lake Geneva, with its wide range of water sports, amusement parks, and the world-famous town of Montreux, is 65 km away.
