The owner was wonderful and the house/location was perfect. We enjoyed our short time away with friends/family. Master balcony was peaceful for morning coffee and chats. Master bath tub was nice for a hot dip after a long hike. Studio worked out great for our friends. Kids enjoyed the basement space.

We arrived at check in time and was greeted by the owner, Tom. He welcomed us a gave us a few tips. The house is fabulous! Roomy, beautifully decorated, and well equipped, this property is a step above most anything I have experienced recently. The master suite includes a small office, en suite bath with a great, deep soaking tub. There is a small outdoor balcony with room for seating and a great sunset view of Sugarbush, Mt Ellen and Mad River Glen. The beds, as well as the pillows, are extremely comfortable. Even the fluffy, white towels were great. There is also a cozy loft overlooking the living room and mountain view which is a great place to relax with a book or catch up on a laptop. The other two bedrooms in the main house are good sized and comfortable. The finished walkout basement has a top notch ping pong table, an convenient half bath, a foosball table, a card table and chairs and an 85 inch Samsung smart TV, with a huge, comfy sectional for movie night. The kitchen is well equipped and thoroughly up to date with top notch appliances. The heat is radiant throughout and very comfortable. There is a two car garage and that is heated also. Equipped with a separate entrance, there is a spacious, fully equipped, 1-bedroom apartment over the garage. It was a great option for my son and his wife or when visiting with two families. The main house and apartment have great sunset mountain views from most of the bedrooms and the common areas. The shortcomings were few and very minor. A second or third dish towel would have been nice (we couldn't find them-maybe our error), as well as a potato masher or mixer. Of course if I were to get really picky, we could have used tin foil and some sugar. Compared to the typical vacation rental though, these shortcomings caused us nothing other than a bemused chuckle. Everything is modern, high-end, well designed and in top-notch operating condition. BTW, there is a Shaw's supermarket less than a mile away. We will certainly look forward to our next visit to the Mountain House. The six of us were all smiles as we left after a great vacation.

Our two families (four adults, five kids) stayed at this property in January, during a very cold weekend. We rented both the main house and the apartment unit, which allowed all of us to stay comfortably. The house is nicely situated right around the corner from some of the most popular eating spots in Waitsfield, and we thoroughly enjoyed being able to run out to pick up some take out each day. On the days that we couldn't go skiing, the kids (and adults) loved playing in the basement game room, especially on the ping pong table and foosball table. The host was very easy to contact, and very responsive. And, it took just a little over ten minutes to drive to Mt Lincoln when we wanted to hit the slopes.
