Nestled between Avignon (“the Festival City”) and Orange (“the City of Opera”), Courthézon (“the Medieval Village”) offers the authentic charm of a friendly Provençal village.
It is one of the few villages in the Vaucluse to have preserved a large portion of its 12th-century ramparts. Courthézon is considered one of the oldest farming villages in Europe. It is a unique place and a region rich in heritage, with beautiful remnants of a prestigious past. The Château de Val-Seille, built in 1868 by Elie Dussaud, now houses the town hall.
Courthézon is located near Orange, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and Avignon. Be sure to also visit the Ancient Theater of Orange and the 12th-century buildings constructed with stone quarried from the Saint-Georges quarries, which were already in use during Roman times.
