Stayed before to visit a friend in Westerfield
Didn’t go in room one day. They apologised.
9.0
Great staff and food and clean room. Good parking.
Proximity of freight railway traffic at night but other guests at back of pub didn't notice it. Good double glazing at front of pub was effective.

The Railway Inn was perfect for our needs. It is very comfortable, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the room is over a very good pub. There were generous portions of fruit, cereal, milk (including oat and soya), yoghurt, juice, tea and coffee free to use. The price was excellent for the quality.

A light breakfast of cereal etc was available in our room and included in the price

The staff were very friendly and helpful.
There was no blind at the bathroom window and that let lots of light into the bedroom at night.

Really comfortable pretty room, lovely clean en suite, perfect location right by the station

We had such a lovely stay at the Railway Inn. The room was large, modern, clean, comfortable and had a modern, clean ensuite. The staff were so friendly and although above the pub, we were not disturbed by any noise. The Inn is next to the railway line and although we had the windows open, the train noise wasn't a problem at all. With the windows shut, the trains weren't heard. There was a great range of breakfast items that were free, on the landing outside our room, including fresh fruit, various cereals, fresh milk and alternative milks, gluten free cereals and yoghurts, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The location was brilliant, on the outskirts of Ipswich, but it felt like we were in the countryside; it was so lovely.

Very pleasant and the breakfast items at the top of the stairs is a very good idea.
Honestly - the noise from the freight trains during night. That said its called the Railway for a reason !

Decent range of complimentary drinks and snacks/breakfast . Large room, and good size bathroom.
I found the bed was too firm, and the trains intruded too much at night,

This is, a beautiful pub in a scenic location. Adjacent to the railway line, you'll hear the trains, till 10pm ish, but who minds that!?
Beautifully decorated, and furnished, gorgeous terrace and decked outside areas, in beautiful countryside, yet just a few mins out of Ipswich. Cosy & inviting downstairs, with delicious - sounding menus.
Continental breakfast was available, in a communal area outside the rooms, with a microwave & fridge etc. Kettles & tea/coffee etc, in rooms.
Fab staff, all helpful & friendly..
Continental breakfast was fine sweet cereals in individual boxes, communal muesli, fruits & yogurts, in fridge. One large communal bottle of milk, which was, sometimes hard to track down.. Would've loved some bread & cheese, as we never eat sweet cereals.
Room was lovely, apart from rock-hard giant pillows, v hard to squash into a comfy shape

Beautiful large room, huge comfy bed, lots of choice for breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.
A little bit noisy by the road, railway line.
Step between bedroom and shower room was a bit dangerous.

The facilities available were excellent and the continental breakfast ingredients were very good. Decided to have cooked breakfast which was very good too and reasonably priced. Thought the price was very competitive.

Good base for us to look round and for wedding venue
Noisy because of train and road but clues in the name of hotel

Lovely pub with really nice comfortable rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful and great tasty food.
The free WiFi was disappointing this time and I ended up turning it off using 4G

Location suitable for my visit to relatives. Large car park and pub garden. Spacious pub with attractive menu - although we only ate cooked breakfast. Room facilities good and adequate for our needs
Time for start of breakfast serving was rather late - from 9.00 am. Light leakage into room from glass door to bathroom could have been prevented with blind to bathroom window. Descaling of kettle would make it more presentable.

Read previous reviews before booking and was not disappointed. However, be warned it's not called the Railway Inn for nothing... there is a railway crossing right next to the Inn.
Can't fault the Inn for being excellent hosts but I would like to have a word with Thomas the Tank Engine and his mates for partying up and down the railway line next to the Inn most of the night.

Lovely atmosphere great facilities friendly staff and excellent service. A beautiful place to stay and will definitely return.
I couldn't fault a thing.

The Railway Inn were understanding and helpful when traffic delays meant our arrival was far later than planned. There was lots of wonderful food and drink for guests both in the room and in the landing area. The breakfasts were also very tasty. I enjoyed the vegan cooked breakfast on both ofthe mornings we were there.
