The room air condition was broken and i was told we are aware of that we give you portable heating. Till morning my jaw was shaking from cold and got a bad cold. Busy hotel and under construction

It’s ok, just ok.
I know they’re doing work on the place, but it needed it and they still have a way to go. Some of the rooms are extremely tired.

Very nice quick stay. Used the gym and the pool and although both were small they were big enough. The food at the bar was decent and the bed was comfy. All in all very good stay.

Despite the renovations there was no noise or dust. The room was comfortable and the shower amazing. We asked the staff a few things and they went above and beyond to get an answer for us. We ate in the restaurant for dinner. The food was excellent quality but heavily salted. The waiters were top notch. All in all an excellent stay.

We arrived for the Christmas holidays and were welcomed by the reception staff. It was only after booking that I received notification from the hotel that the restaurant would not be available for the duration of our stay and we had booked the package that included breakfast and an evening meal. A limited menu was available from the bar and there was enough choice over the three nights. Many thanks to our breakfast server Donna on Christmas morning who was very friendly and caring. She made enquiries and said if we asked for Greg in the evening there would be a Chrisrmas dinner for us. They both went above and beyond to ensure we could celebrate our first Christmas together properly away from family and friends. They deserve recognition and praise and we appreciate that they gave up their own time over the festive season to work their shifts for our benefits. As an NHS employee I'm acutely aware that not everyone is off work at this time.

The staff are wonderful.
Super friendly, accommodating and just lovely people.
The hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment which isn’t a problem- so there were rolls of carpet around and areas out of access, but that didn’t impact our stay.
The room is comfortable, lovely pillow options, comfy bed and a new shower room.
The toilet roll holder in the bathroom is physically unreachable from the toilet, so a little style of substance in this case.
The hotel is close to the M5, however we had no issues with noise and slept very well.
As certain areas are closed, this impacts how you exit the property as this signage is currently redundant.
This resulted in 5 adults and a dog, not all known to each other, walking around and around, multiple times for 10 minutes trying to get out.
All the signage was wrong and led to a dead end.
We ended up going out of the fire door as we were all late for our prior engagements.
It’s madness when you cannot leave a property!
We spoke to the staff when we left that they need to do the customer journey and update the signage accordingly.
I would normally laugh about it, but we were late to a surprise party because we couldn’t leave and that’s not okay.

Reception was, good, room comfort was good, a pity that the restaurant experience was bad. I've been given an uncleaned table, waited ages to order, paid £7.85 for a small glass of poor house merlot (over-priced), got the bill printed on an A4 sheet... quite poor service. Food was good though.

I was very disappointed the hot tub wasn’t working on our second day. The only reason I chose this hotel was for the spa facility as I have health issues that are eased when I sit in a jacuzzi. Other than that it was a pleasant stay.

Staff are brilliant. Smiling faces, offers of assistance brilliant service from start to finish. We did have two minor complaints though. Our bedroom was like a sauna when we arrived, and that is not an exaggeration. First thing we had to do was to turn off all the heating. Turn on the air conditioner to cold and open the windows. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. However the fruit juices had been watered down so there was more water than juice. Perhaps if they were a bit more savvy on their heating the money they saved could be spent on full strength fruit juices

Lovely hotel, conveniently located, staff were all welcoming and professional. Slightly disappointed that restaurant wasn’t open in the evening. We ate in the bar, but tables a bit too small for dining.

The corridor absolutely stunk of a cheesy smell and there was still trays of glasses outside the room when we checked in.

We were advised on the day of our stay there was no leisure facilities and no aircon, reassured there would be a refund for the aircon (which my friend received immediately but I had to go through hotels.com due to paying in advance) still have not received this. We received uneditable meals which had to be returned (and weren’t charged) appalling service throughout and thereafter as still ongoing!

Stayed here for a night with my wife and two kids. Lovely staff (thanks Enika!), spacious rooms, and newly refurbished. The pool is on the smaller side but perfect for a splash around with the kids. Breakfast is absolutely top-notch. The rooms are newly refurbished, which means a few minor glitches are getting ironed out (e.g. lovely smart TVs just installed but not yet configured), but I imagine that'll happen soon. A great place to stay!

The hotel was fine although some areas weren't very clean, such as the gym parts of the gym and the steam room seemed a bit old and not clean looking. The staff all seemed quite miserable. The only member of staff we came accross that seemed nice was a member of house keeping and a receptionist. The people working in the leisure part both seemed miserable and the first time we got to the pool, we were unsure where to go and we just needed 2 towels and I said it loudly multiple times trying to hint we just needed to know we're in the right place atleast, but because the leisure receptionist was sorting a membership for the people in front she was ignoring us when it was evident that what she was doing was going to take a while and we just needed 2 towels so we quickly asked and she just said, that she wouldn't be a minute.. We stood there about 15 mins and didn't have all the time in the world. She literally just had to hand us two towels.. Also the bar man was quite negative when we asked for a menu or anything about the restaurant he seemed quite funny or negative about it like he was trying to put us off almost. Then evening came and the bar was understaffed, they didn't have a lot of food left that was on the bar menu and the food took about 2 hours to come. I understand that things can get busy but other places seem to manage. Overall the hotel was good, just poorly run and as someone who works in a hotel I don't understand how basic customer service is so difficult

Its very tired. Small rooms. Terrible placement of the toilet between the shower and basin. AC didnt work. Motorway noise. Grubby corridors. Hotel a maize of unsignposted coridors.

It was a good hotel, with a lovely swimming pool. Only downside was my daughter wasn’t allowed into the gym and other facilities because of her age. We’ve been to other hotels and she was allowed in as that’s why we book a hotel with these things

Poo in the loo
A musky damp smell in the wing we were in
Bits of rubbish of some description by the side of the hot tub.
Rotting wood and brickwork in place
Unkempt grounds
Lack lustre staff

We booked a Premium Room but the only aspect which resembled the online marketing photographs was that the room contained a bed!
There was a solitary worktable chair, no lounge chair or sofa, no coffee table, no storage apart from the hanging wardrobe, no lamp, no wall pictures or photos and only a ting dormer window looking onto a flat roof.
Add to that the air conditioning is broken and we couldn't go to sleep with the window open because of the noise from a wedding disco downstairs.
Common areas and corridors look desperately tired and we were rather concerned from a fire safety point of view that our second floor corridor was full of lounge chairs stacked in the window recesses. Shame they hadn't thought to put them in the rooms to provide some sorely needed amenity seating.
Coulsnt fault the staff on the ground who were all pleasant and helpful. Breakfast (included in the rate) was very good but compared with West Park, Harrogate, where we stayed earlier in the week this looked like a VERY overpriced option.
The icing on the cake came on the dot of 9.00 am Monday morning when the builders started drilling through the wall (presumably) next door so we packed and left.
Recommend to stay well clear of this hotel until all refurbishment is complete as the room quality is woefully inadequate for the price (£154.50 Saturday and £109.80 Sunday).

Use this hotel occasionally when visiting Birmingham for business. I like the fact it has a spa & I can have a swim. Each time I have stayed my experience has been different from poor to good & I generally mark it down on cleanliness. My visit this week was no exception, my room in the lower basement was the worst I have ever stayed in. There were hairs on the bathroom floor & edge of the shower, a piece of stale breadstick under the drawer unit & the bed was the worst hotel bed I have ever slept in, even the base was sagging. I note the hotel seems to be undergoing a refurb and I make the assumption I was allocated one of the older rooms as it was very tired.

All round an excellent experience with great facilities and plenty of informed staff to answer any query.

Very friendly helpful staff in all areas! But the air con not working was a real issue - a fan and the windows open didn’t cut it as it was noisy outside after 11pm which was annoying. Too hot to close the window. Also had to wait on the third bed being set up. Some drinks provided in room which is nice but no cooler. Nobody wants warm cola! Some areas around pool etc a bit tired. The staff are making the difference - good service but could not save the hotel if it’s not updated slightly

It's a difficult one this. Stayed for two nights First night brilliant Nice Large room Complementary Biscuits, Crisps and Drinks good sleep.
Second night we are moved as it was two separate bookings although same level of room booked for both nights. Although the second night was £40 more expensive.
Time room that had just been done up. No complimentary anything, No tv Remote, No Fridge. It was so noisy as beside the roadway that we hardly slept, Secondary glazing fitted that just didn't work.
Came away from hotel on second night feeling exhausted.
Unless you can be guaranteed a room away from the road avoid,
