Parking was horrible, clerk gave me keys to occupied room, direct TV had no signal, asked why they said didn’t know should be working, never heard back from them, had to fix toilet seat myself from falling off, room was super tiny and old, musty, it made my top 5 of worst hotels ever and I travel a lot!!

Staff was nice. I spent a nice and quiet night

The room Was not up to par as in my previous stays. The bathroom was not clean and there were no washcloths. Luckily I had my own.

Hotel needs an upgrade. Curtains were hanging off the rods. The bed wasn’t terrible, was moderately comfortable. We had to look around to find the TV remote behind the night stand with the alarm clock. Breakfast was “brown bag” yogurt, apple juice, muffin, apple and bottled water. Hallways smelled like weed. Internet pictures are better than reality. Parking was nonexistent. There were maybe 12 parking spaces. Front desk personnel was gracious enough to move her car so we could park. May or may not stay here again. All depends on our travel budget and the amount of time spent at the hotel. This trip it was literally a place to sleep so, in that respect it was sufficient.

Old, outdated hotel. They advertise continental breakfast. Breakfast was given to us in a brown paper bag. Not many parking spaces available

I was a woman traveling alone and I had a lovely visit to an unfamiliar town while I stayed here.

I picked this hotel because it offered parking - for a fee. We checked in, paid for parking, received the pass. Went to get food. We came back and there were no empty spots. I asked where we were supposed to park, she told me across the street, but we had to move the car by 7am or it would be ticketed or towed. I told her we had paid for parking, she said the day guy had oversold their spots. She let me stay in employee parking, but it was very inconvenient.

I didn't like the limited parking space and the lack of room service.

While the two women at the reception desk the day I arrived were excellent in helping resolve an issue, when I asked for a late check-out, the person at the reception desk (a man) was what I would call rude when he told me, THREE times, that I absolutely had to be out by the time he was allowing me to check out. His behavior will certainly not encourage me to return any time soon and he could certainly benefit from some training in customer relations.

Dirty facilities. Horrible experience

The hotel room had an unpleasant smell, paint on walls were falling off, and the air conditioning system was so loud that it severely impacted sleep quality. It was a very uncomfortable stay. Would never go back.

The American inn of Bethesda met all of my needs. I just needed a place to stay. It was the most economic place around. It was clean, mostly quiet, the staff was cool and the water was hot. My only complaint was parking. I didn't know about the $20 power day parking until I was there with a place to park. I'll stay here again if it's available.

Check in staff were great and very helpful

Fine for a night or two, but zero frills. Breakfast comes in a paper sack and has to be requested at the front desk. We didn’t have a working tv for the first 24 hours, the person at the desk shrugged and said sorry, nothing could be done. Heater/air conditioner either had to run all the time, or not at all, could not control temperature at all.

The internet service in the room is dismal--terribly slow even for regular browsing. They don't have any area for breakfast, they provide a breakfast pack, which includes an apple, yogurt, a small juice, a small water bottle, etc, no coffee or tea (though you can have tea/coffee in the room). Convenient location. Good for something you are looking only for a night stay. Most of the amenities they claim do not work or are unusable.

I checked in on Sunday Oct 15 at 4pm, I was given a key and when I arrived to the room I was unable to enter the room as none of the two keys worked. The cleaning lady open it for me but then she informed me that room was not clean and that I have to wait 30 min. I returned to the front desk to request a replacement of the keys. The second set did not work either. The front desk attendant came with me and after going up and down with the key it open it for him. I tried myself and I did not know how to open it. He got mad, clearly he was in emotional pain. He took off did not explain me how to open the door and just told me He did not have time to deal with the door and took off. The room was still unclean. I went for the third time to the front desk to wait. After 10-15 minutes the same front desk attendant offered me to change the room for a cleaned one. I was put in a room in the 4th floor. The room was dark and the rooms are small. It mas mainly clean. Still 169 dollars a night + tax for the room is highly priced. The hotel still offers a bag to go as breakfast with small water, juice, a muffin, a fruit and a yogurt. The hotel has a back entrance and a front entrance. A few blocks to Harris teeter! The shuttle to NIH runs once everyone 7:12 am or so but only to the clinical center. Otherwise it is ok.

We stayed here because it was the cheapest hotel near our daughter in Bethesda , Maryland. Would not stay again ! Supposed breakfast but no coffee available. We got yogurt.

The musty carpet smell greeted us upon entering the room. The toilet flush lever would leak a bit of water after every flush which was alarming at first. Curtain chains were not working -- the blackout curtains were also not even attached to a bar and was somehow semi attached to the wall with gaping holes, so at night, people in the building across could certainly see in.
Continental breakfast was not in fact continental -- it was a paper bag with an apple, yogurt, muffin, and a small bottle of water.
Stayed for 5 nights, and after 2 days there was no housekeeping done though it is advertised as daily housekeeping. When asked, was told it was done every few days (we got ours after 3 days). TV in the room also did not work but couldn't be bothered to ask for a different room since it likely wasnt just this room that had issues. There was some pink mold in the corners of the bathtub, and small amounts of old grime in the corners and edges that are probably difficult to get cleaned given the age of the building. Overall, the room was small but it was not a bad stay since the building was calm, bedding and towels were clean, and was near a Trader Joe's with other food establishments a walk away, but the small things that were not working started to add up during the stay. At least there was a desk and mini fridge to keep some food and drinks.

It is motel, very old and room and bathroom are very small. This is worst motel i have visited in US. Breakfast was in togo packet.

Ok for the price. TV was not bright but only darkly lit. Soap missing from bathroom. Ice machine on floor was not working.
Staff was friendly and courteous.

Decent budget hotel good location, downtown Bethesda. They sneak in a $20 parking charge, but you can park cheaper in public lots if your arr not staying all day.

Nothing. Spent 20$ for parking and had no parking after I got back from the ball.

It was very inexpensive but the trade off is that the place seems to be pretty old, the room had a loud fan noise, and the parking is extremely limited. Overall it worked for what I needed for 1 night,

The hotel has no parking. You park on the streets The rooms were not clean at all. Found someone else's food in the drawer that means the rooms was never cleaned up after they left. The fridge was leaking water on the carpet making the room smell like molds inside Very outdated shower, sinks, table tops curtains very dirty and falling apart.

Not too bad considering price and mostly area. Close to everything and an extra $20 for parking. Did not price out city garage next door. Broken fridge. No microwave in room.

The room itself was decent, the bathroom was a little dirty and the water pressure was non existent, i only stayed a night but i dont think i would have stayed any longer the parking situation was terrible probably the worse part, works for a cheap quick stay if you just need a place to lay your head

Stay was okay. There was no parking available even though ut mentions that parking is available. There was no breakfast either. So i would say disappointed 😞

Just ok, it’s kind of typical old building. I recommend to bring your own shampoos, conditioner and soap. Near by Trader Joe’s.

Hotel need to have better conditions in their amenities pool was close and for what I can see they have not open the pool during the whole summer offer continental breakfast and all they do is have few bags ready at 7 I ask for coffee and they said I need to use the one is in the room on what the coffee machine were missing parts carpet I think is time to change it other then that it was very close from restaurants and other areas but I will not stay again or I will definitely will call first and insure area like pool is open and double check what are they mean went come to said breakfast

This is usually one of the more reasonable places to stay in the area. It’s not fancy or remodeled in recent years, but convenient and friendly staff. Perfect for a regular NIH visitor!
