Dead bugs on floor and under bed, cobwebs on ceiling, house a mess, heard the cars and trucks on road as if they were in room, was not informed prior that bathroom was separate (one floor down and across the house) from bedroom. We were ready to stay even with all of this until we found bedbugs (photographed and verified). Then we left. Travelocity tried to intervene - owner hung up on them twice and refused reimbursement.

Had the pleasure of staying in this quaint mansion that is a relic of the past. Tina is a wonderful host who is extremely knowledgeable about the area and clearly loves the mansion and town. Check-in was simple, rooms were clean, and home-cooked breakfast in the morning was excellent. If ever in the area, I would absolutely stay again.

Yraffic noise is an issue. Earplugs needed.

This a quirky old style. B and B. There are many common rooms, and guests are invited to use the, chat with the other guests and with the owner herself. Our bathroom was private and just down the hall- it locked to ensure that no other guests used it. The breakfast was plentiful, tasty and made to order. The house is beautiful, well cared forever, and obviously lived in by the host.

We love this place and will use it whenever we have things to do in the greater Capital region. And, Troy is a hidden treasure in many ways.

Loved it. Especially the owner’s telling of the building’s history and paranormal experiences. No ghosts disturbed our restful night
Delicious hot and cold breakfast including fresh fruit

Old Judge Mansion is a BEAUTIFUL home, loaded with wonderful antiques and architecture. I stayed there with my son for a trip to Rensselaer Polytechnic, which is close by. During our stay, the inn was not full to capacity so we did not have to share a bathroom, but it would have been fine even if we did. Our room was comfortable and easily accessible. We enjoyed getting to know our host and the other guests over breakfast, which was varied, plentiful and delicious. Offstreet parking was available, which was a bonus. No complaints and I would recommend to anyone visiting the area. Much better than a hotel!!

A very cozy B&B with a great host. Conveniently located with easy access to the Empire State bike trail. We were allowed to keep our bikes inside in the lobby. The Inn has the patina of age but is well kept. Cakes, cookies and snacks are available 24 hours a day. Included is a full hot breakfast! We enjoyed our stay immensely but we were very wary of the surrounding area. Downtown Troy has great restaurants and is only 1 mile away but we Ubered there instead of walking or biking.

It was a real treat to stay, even for one night, in this beautiful mansion. Parking was secure, check in a no brainer, room ready and AC going, the very comfortable bed was welcoming after a long hot day of celebration. Tina was ready with hot coffee and waiting to cook us a custom breakfast along with assorted plentiful goodies. An expert on the Troy area, she regaled us with inside stories. We will definitely stay there again! Thanks, Tina

Upon arrival, the building looked interesting. The off street parking was nice. At closer inspection, the building has not been cared for. Window boxes were left with dead plants, stuff was lying around the house, Looking in the windows they were loaded with “stuff” , the front steps had not been swept; very uninviting. The owner did greet us. She tried to be nice, but also shared our most of her gas made her crazy with their requests and needs. The house was cluttered with stuff it was disorganized and messy. For example a case of Diet Coke was at the guest sign in book. There are private bathrooms but they are down the hall from the bedrooms. All of the bedding needs to be updated, there was an ironing board open in the sitting room,a wall of VHS tapes that are years and years old, and stuff everywhere. The beds looked like they were 100 years old. In the bathroom, the towels were thread bare. I opened the closet door to find more stuff thrown into the closet. I saw a dog dish, towels thrown in there, partially used hemorrhoid cream tubes, and other stuff I couldn’t even identify. We did not spend the night as it was unacceptable. I would never recommend this B & B.

An old antique mansion with lots of charm. Tina will show you hospitality plus!

Tina the innkeeper was great. Food was great. One bedframe was so wobbly that it creaked all night. The neighborhood is sketchy. I didn’t realize such a nice B&B would be in a scary area.

Historical building preserved for all to use.
The owner is a wonderful hostess, and the setting for breakfast is in the line of Downton Abbey, with all the china and set up. The Drawing Room is an excellent place to relax and read.

T-Bird Motor Lodge
I really liked this place and especially the manager. He was SUCH a nice, friendly accommodating man. Very “old-school,” single story, motel. The room felt like it had been recently renovated. Everything seemed clean and new. The room had all the amenities you could want. We had a room on the back of the property where there is a very large, pretty, tree-lined, grassy area with picnic tables. No ice machine, but they have conveniently located freezers with bagged ice included in the price of your room.

This B&B is a real hidden treasure. The location may not be the best but everything else is wonderful. The hostess is extremely welcoming, you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. All communications prior to arrival were very clear and helpful. The food was wonderful and the evening snacks were tasty as well. If you have the chance you should check it out!

Not in the best part of town, but felt safe. Good value.

We just loved our stay. Our son is an RPI student so the Olde Judge Mansion is very convient. Tina is an outstanding hostess and a wealth of knowledge about the area. We loved our room and breakfast was superb. Troy has seen better days but don't let that dissuade you from trying out this beautful Victorian B&B.

Impressive woodwork and history embodied into this Old Judge Mansion! We enjoyed reading books about Troy and the area while staying there, and Tina the host is an encyclopedia of the area because she grew up in Troy. Great breakfast and snacks!

Bottom line, once you are in the hotel it is decent, but I wouldn't recommend staying anyplace in this neighborhood. A mile our two closer to RPI makes a world of difference. I would have given the place 3 or 4 stars, except for the neighborhood and the fact that the bathroom is only accessible via the common areas.
Pros:
Inexpensive
Clean
Lots of board games for family entertainment
Cons:
Bathrooms located down the hall, so if you need to use the bathroom at night you have to get dressed and head through the public areas to the bathroom.
The neighborhood. The location is in the middle of a typical inner city dilapidated neighborhood, including condemned and boarded up houses. Definitely use google street view to check out the surrounding blocks before booking a stay here.

Looking for hotel or B & B close to Albany Amtrak train station. Visit NYC often and 4 hour drive from Montreal. This way we could take an early morning train and be in NYC earlier. The price and proximity to the train was a selling point. Pictures and rating were also good. Found the area not as nice but once in the house, complete change of atmosphere. Classical music playing in background, instructions, notes etc answering any questions we had (We got there close to the 8 o'clock late arrival so no person greeting that evening). Note with room, bathroom location as well as code for door posted for us in entrance. There was also private parking spots for each guest room quite well indicated.
Homemade breakfast next morning was very good as was owner's hospitality.
