Room was beautifully appointed, clean and spacious. Garden and grounds well kept and litter free. Staff friendly and efficient. However, the full breakfast was a big disappointment. Some strange tasting ingredients and only one cup of coffee and no refills offered.

Lovely hotel, nice staff, food ok. Room and location outstanding, room was too warm couldn’t turn down the radiator, no coffee pods in the room. Would definitely return.

Lovely stay, despite in house restaurant seeming to be high end, cooked to order fresh/organic and local its way too expensive.
Car charging only one working and held by one car for over 14hrs, so arrive with a charge

Love this place! The rooms are stunning, the staff are amazing, food and drink are amazing and the general feel of the place is just perfect, so chilled, warm and relaxing. The manager was amazing and really helpful. I really couldn’t think of single thing they could improve, it’s just perfect! Thanks for wonderful stay, we will be back!

Massive attention to detail from the staff, from Bethany and Louis on reception, showing us to our room and explaining everything, to then going for the evening meal we booked, yes the food is expensive £140 for a two course meal for 2 people but the quality was outstanding and absolutely delicious, our waiter for the evening was an amazing man called Scott, huge attention to detail for us both, excellent conversation and laughs with us and made us feel very very welcome and very special, he made the whole experience for the occasion.
Only one gripe about everything, you really let yourself down with a very sub par breakfast, really disappointing, you need to address this !!!!but even with that said the staff were still very helpful and on hand.
Overall 4.5 out of 5 for me, would defo stay again and go back for an amazing meal, the staff make the stay not the place !!!!!

Shame only one charge point was working, but the team went out of their way to help me. Will definitely stay here next time I’m in the area

The food was exquisite. We loved the dining concept too - why are more people not doing this?

Reception was difficult to find. Room wasn’t ready on arrival at 3pm, which was disappointing as we had checked in online. Food was very good, both in the evening and breakfast. Service staff were very attentive and polite.

The room was very comfortable and the staff very accommodating. Three people in our group have dietary issues and they were able to offer several options to meet our needs. The food was amazing!

Hotel rooms excellent, comfortable and clean The staff were welcoming, friendly and polite The waitress on our first night was excellent but sorry the meal was disappointing plus NOT happy that a 10% gratuity charge was added to the bill !! Would have preferred to have personally given our amazing waitress a gratuity instead so on our return stay we ate elsewhere £8 for a few toms and £8 for a side salad !! 🙈🙈

We have been here several times over the last five years and have generally been very happy with our stay. But on this occasion there was some minor issues that need looking at.for example staff need more training with catering,no condiments on tables, length of time for getting food and so on.also dissatisfied with staff cleaning down beer pumps before customers had finished on Sunday evening (9.45pm)

Beautiful hotel ,staff very friendly and efficient.
Lovely room and very comfortable bed .
Dined in the evening , food excellent.
On the DOWN SIDE , the English breakfast is not as you would think , a very Spanish twist couldn’t eat mine ,and my wife left most of hers , a shame really. Never the less I do think this is a great place to stay .
Thank you

Lovely place room a little small but nicely decorated. Food very disappointing well overpriced and not enough variety of main dishes .My husband did not like any mains no chicken pasta or spicy dishes on menu so we had tapas which was so not authentic very poor .Staff on the whole pleasant but head of house young man very pretentious and full of his own importance . Very busy place and i really don't understand why ii is would not go back

We stayed one night here in July 2023. We wished we had reserved more nights. The staff was absolutely lovely, very nice and accommodating. Dinner was superb. My wife has an unusual food sensitivity to certain cooking oils, and the chef was able to ensure her dinner was not contaminated. This is a difficult thing to find in England. The wait staff went out of their way to bring our dessert to our room later in the evening. The setting is gorgeous. There are the ruins of the old Roman Legionnaire fort and amphitheater only a quarter mile down the road. The ruins are openly accessible to anyone. It is quite something to stand amongst foundations that are over 1600 years old.

Lovely stay. Pub next door was noisy but the windows block out all the noise. Lovely garden to catch the last few rays of sun with a glass of wine. Staff were all excellent especially the receptionist. We will be back again.

This is a charming, characterful property in the heart of a historical Welsh village surrounded by beautiful countryside The restaurant and service has always been excellent, which is reflected in how busy it is. The menu used to reflect the wealth of local resources on it's doorstep. Oddly, a recent refurb of the bar area is jarring and completely out of keeping with the rest of the building. Similarly the 'reception' area has been blocked in and moved out of sight to within a crowded 'bodega' along the main entrance hallway to the restaurant. What used to be charming is now just odd, dark and uncomfortable. Bar service is abysmal and not helped by the new layout. The breakfast menu is now almost entirely Spanish leaning, with even the 'full english' containing a chunk of belly pork rather than bacon. Strange for a hotel seated in the heart of prime Welsh agriculture and farming ? Reduced breakfast options are served in the refurbed bar area which is dark, uncomfortable and somewhat depressing. I chose to skip hotel breakfast and instead use Coffiology, a local cafe a short walk away which was excellent. Guest rooms are superb, particularly the guest cottages. One odd factor is that shampoo is no longer provided, just body wash and conditioner.

I have always been a huge fan of this property for it's local charm and character. They just seemed to get everything right. Unfortunately recent renovation works in the main building bar and reception area would seem be taking the facility in an entirely different direction.

The property is beautiful, historical, well maintained and an absolute pleasure to stay at…I, in all seriousness, cannot fault it.

Stayed 2 nights and found all staff friendly and welcoming. Bedroom was a good size. Would definitely recommend.

Wife fell sick after eating their yogurt.
Our charming room was over a noisy restaurant & bar. The clanking starts at 6am and the drunks go until 11 pm. Don't bother calling the front desk for service as nobody will pick up the phone. I shared this with the manager with the nose ring. He just shrugged his shoulders.
The restaurant menu was supposed to be based on Spanish food. It was all just meh.
Lastly, charm is also code for no air conditioner in the room.
This is too bad, as the hotel and the grounds are beautiful.
