Love this hotel! Impeccable on every level!

I chose to stay at this hotel because of the proximity to the metro. Located within 5mins walk to foggy bottom metro, it is super convenient especially to get to the dca airport with no need to transfer and less than a 30min ride!
Hotel is a heritage site so this means they still using the original heating and cooling system so you can't really turn on the heating/cooling unless the hotel has them on. Not an issue for us and the staff were more than happy to provide an extra fan if needed. Rooms are very spacious, clean and the lobby is really beautiful. Coffee is provided on the first floor in the mornings which is nice. Check in and out was very smooth, and they were happy to hold out bags for us when we arrived and checked out early. Overall a lovely hotel and I will definitely come back next time I am in dc!

Clean, beautiful room. Nice bathroom and amenities. Restaurant onsite we did not use. Not very close to other restaurants but you can find one if you can walk. Expensive valet parking and lots of fees. All in all, however, I would recommend because all DC hotels are expensive and this one is situated between Georgetown and the Lincoln Memorial, so it is convenient to lots of places in DC.

Everything was threadbare and worn. The wallpaper was cracked, the shower drain was chipped, my bedspread had a faint yellow stain on it (which they swapped out when I asked, but still...). The air conditioning duct rattled, the door was flimsy. This is one of those "you get what you pay for" situations.
The cherry on top was waking up on the day of checkout to a printout stating that I'd be charged a $20 "historic preservation fee" (plus tax, mind you) on top. Yes, yes, buried in the dusty recesses of the FAQ on their website it technically says that they do this, but it's pretty underhanded and clearly isn't going towards any upkeep of the property that I saw.

The Melrose is a well-run, comfortable hotel. The only weakness is the restaurant. The breakfast food was very mediocre considering the cost. The service was good on the weekend but poor on Monday morning.

I got a Free Breakfast Card at checkin , but still being charged for food , now have to dispute it. Unhappy late customer experience.

Overall it was a good stay. The hotel is well located, the staff friendly and the room very spacious and clean. But what happened us that on the last day I left the property early to work planning to get back just in time to check-out (before 12:00). At 11:00 I entered my room and noted that someone was there and left the wardrobe and all the drawers opened. My clothes and other itens were where I have left them but when I got into the bathroom I realized that my toothbrush, toothpaste and detal floss were gone. I found it to be very weird and asked a housekeeper that was on the floor if she knew something. She said that she hasn't been on my room as she had the information that my check-out has not been done until that moment. She kindly gave to me a sample of a toothpast and a disposable toothbrush. I reported the incident upon my check-out and got the "apologies". But that question that still remains is: why?

Everything was good from checking in to checking out. Would definitely recommend

Had a comfortable two-night stay. The hotel has been refurbished quite well. Large rooms and very comfortable bed. Staff friendly and helpful. Close to metro station and WholeFoods. I’d stay there again for sure.

A reasonably good hotel conveniently located within walking distance of Georgetown University and George Washington University.
Our 2 queen beds room is descently sized with a desk and 2 chairs. The room decor and furnishing are functional and athletically reflective of the DC spirit.
The bathroom hardware (the shower and toilet room) and the closet doors are a bit outdated; which detract the overall appeal of the stay. Also the shower/toilet room is very small.
Additionally, the parking is a bit chaotic, very hard to find a parking lot/garage around the hotel. End up having to valet park my car. Also if you are driving in from the SW side of Pennsylvania Ave., you will have to drive down the road a few more blocks to make an U-turn.
Lastly, the check-in was quick and easy. But the check-out had a pretty long waiting time (15-20min).

Was not able to lower the temperature of my room, it was too warm. When I complained I was told to open a window, if I have one that opened.
Bathroom needs updating.

My second time here from Dallas. Staff is so nice and love the coziness and ambiance of the hotel walking distance from everything.

Easily could have been a great review. Hotel is beautiful, beds are a bit stiff and rooms are hot but I almost expect the heat in an older building. Lobby is gorgeous, room was clean and very large. Issue comes however from a particular staff member. During a walk by of pro Palestinian rally goers, this person ran outside and cheered them on. It was incredibly unprofessional. You don’t know who is watching you. Regardless of your political affiliation, or feelings regarding the current climate of the world, it was incredibly unprofessional and made the rest of our stay incredibly uncomfortable.

The unit did not have a TV working the entire time we were there we were promised it would be back and running shortly it never was yet the bar and lobby TVs work fine. Customer service at front desk was rude and not apologetic. I found a case number with Expedia expecting a refund for my entire stay to Jose from expedia's customer service and Jose promised my refund should be posted soon as he escalated the case.

Very nice hotel with an excellent bar and restaurant and great bartender Simone. Nice front desk staff also! TV wasn’t working one night but it was fixed. Rooms are spacious and comfortable.

Convenient location, comfortable rooms. Needs a little updating plus rooms in first floor are quite noisy due to busy street next to the hotel.

Beautiful hotel with spacious rooms. Good location 15 min walk from georgetown. Great gym. Complete room amenities. Professional customer service. Only giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because their late checkout policy is inflexible. Had a great time otherwise.

The only things nice about the property are the lobby, towels & fitness area. Otherwise, the HVAC is terrible requiring an open window to cool the room. The TV didn't work which was apparently an issue across the entire hotel per the front desk. The room was seriously tired with a stained rug, damaged wall surfaces and an uncomfortable sagging mattress. It was way overpriced for my experience and I can't believe you charge a service charge at the bar. This is coming from someone who never takes the time to submit reviews.

A very nice small hotel … walking distance from lovely Georgetown. Only complaint is that bathrooms were a little small.

Such a majestic experience to say the least. I would definitely return as a guest. The staff were extremely pleasant and professional.

The parking is very expensive, only this is problem

The staff at the front desk communicated well- they even asked how things were going- I never experienced that before!
I chose this hotel because of the ambiance in the lobby- especially the fireplace. However, we were told they were out of gas and it didn’t work until the next morning.
I have an almost perfect score for comfort- because the pillows were too thick. It would be better to offer one thin and one thick- but both were too thick for my comfort.

I liked everything except the parking situation. I dont mind the valet but could let you know that you will be charged 55.00 for overnight. Im not complaining because i got the room for a decent deal but just letting it be known. And i couldn't figure out how to turn the heat down, i turned it down like you would usually do on a thermostat to like 65 but still hot. Turned it off and was still hot, i like it hot so it didn't bother me as much as my wife she is hot natured. Other than that i loved it.

The bed was oddly uncomfortable and the pillows so huge it was hard to sleep. Everything else was lovely but not being able to actually sleep in a hotel was a downside!
