Luxurious, brand new and spacious place to stay

Clean, luxurious and brand new spacious rooms. Very nice view over akureyri. They let you use their laundry machine and dryer for free.

Good potential but a couple of issues

The hotel had good potential as a futuristic staff-free operation. However, see next comment.

When we arrived, the code number did not work to open the doors. We did not have Iceland cellular service so getting in touch with hotel management was difficult. Finally, we managed to contact management and received a new code that worked. The room was fine although only one (of the two) shower heads worked and the shower drain was plugged. At breakfast, we informed the staff that we had not paid and they said we would be charged. A week later we received a terse message saying we left the hotel without paying.

Brand new hotel, very clean and comfortable.

No reception, self check in hotel. It doesn’t feel like a hotel. Location far from the town centre.

Nice modern hotel with spacious rooms. Highly recommended

Beautifully designed, spacious rooms. The automated check-in and check-out makes it very easy to arrive and leave the property any time. There was a coffee machine with capsules in the room, very nice touch. Black outs worked perfectly. The hotel is situated just outside of the main part of Akureyri but if you have a car it’s really not a problem and in exchange the views are amazing. You can park you car right outside at the terrace of each room so it’s very easy to move heavy luggage in and out.

The jacuzzi closes at 10pm so we didnt get to use it. I think they could keep it open all day as there is no staff anyway.

Exceptional

Great place to stay when exploring north Iceland. Myvatn area is fairly close by as well as the diamond ring. The hotel is very new. The rooms are big, modern, clean and comfortable.

Automatic doors can be finicky.

It was super clean and in the perfect area. The facilities were ideal, I could do my own laundry in peace and make myself as many coffees as my heart wanted. This place is super modern and quiet, even in the second busiest Icelandic city.

Whilst I understand the amount of construction, I do feel like the view could have been nicer.

Wouldn’t stay here again.

The building seems quite new and the furnishings are in good order.

You receive a code via email that accesses all the doors, be sure write it down or have email access so you can get in as there are no staff onsite at all to help you. It was very confusing, there were 3 other guest arriving when we did that had no idea how to get into their rooms either. The area around the hotel looks like a building site. There was no hairdryer, or tissues or soap in our bathroom. There were no pillow cases on the pillows and they were very uncomfortable . There is a coffee maker supplied with coffee capsules and artificial creamer but no tea bags or real milk for tea drinkers.

Hotel with no service, unable to enter the hotel and check in due to wrong code provided by the hotel. We can only enter through the assist of other guests. Only resolved by email communication. no hair dryer

tastefully and practical designed hotel for a very fair price

we really enjoyed our stay. the interior was picked tastefully. the couch was especially comfortable for being so pleasant to look at. big fan of functional graceful and timeless design. it even turns into a far above average mattress. wish i had a sofa like this at home. :) there could easily and comfortably fit 4 people into one standard double room thanks to this couch. we were only two. we only tried the couch as a bed because unfortunately even though the tv is mounted on an arm it can not be turned enough to make an in bed tv session possible. the bathroom is spacious and practical. the view over akureyri makes it even more enjoyable to stay at hotel halond. the organic shower lotion and shampoo were a well appreciated detail. the room temperature was easy to adjust. all in all i will recommend the hotel to family and friends. an early check in was possible which was awesome. takk fyrir mig.

i would have loved a hairdryer. the staff seemed a little stressed and low on energy on the phone. let's hope that was just because of pre christmas business.
