Suggested excursions
Heidelberg is approximately 30 km away. There you’ll find, for example, the legendary castle, the Old Bridge, the Philosophers’ Walk, and the Thingstätte.
In Schwetzingen, the palace gardens are well worth a visit!
You can reach Mannheim, known as the “City of Squares,” by car or train from Heidelberg in 30 minutes.
Sinsheim offers an interesting technology museum and a water park with a large sauna area. The TSG Hoffenheim soccer stadium is also located there.
The city of Speyer is home to an interesting technology museum.
The Castle Festival in Jagsthausen
From the “Town of Four Castles,” Neckarsteinach, a boat ride on the Neckar River is highly recommended.
A handcar ride near Wald-Michelbach can also be a highlight of your vacation.
In the small towns of Hirschhorn (Ersheimer Chapel) and Mosbach, you can admire old half-timbered houses.
The Guttenberg Bird of Prey Sanctuary is also worth a visit, as are the Gottersdorf Museum Village and the stalactite cave in Eberstadt.
Near Eberbach (6 km), you can hike up the Wolfsschlucht and Magaretenschlucht gorges. (Wear sturdy shoes!)
The Katzenbuckeltherme spa is also a worthwhile destination.
The town of Eberbach offers a full range of shopping and dining options.
A great bike path takes you along the Neckar River. (We can provide three bicycles with helmets.)
Unfortunately, Allemühl (population 320) has no shops or places to eat (except for a small mill shop). However, there is an idyllic Kneipp pool with a (free) barbecue area (bookable through the municipality)
A tractor ride through nature can be booked locally via info@traktor-fahrten.de.
In Pleutersbach (2 km), you’ll find a nice café with delicious pastries and breakfast.
For nearby hikes, we recommend, for example, the Stolzeneck and Minneburg castle ruins, as well as the Kirchel ruins at Reihersee.
For our younger guests, the wildlife park (located in Schwarzach, 6 km away) and the newly built playground across the street from our house are particularly worth mentioning.
