Very disappointing and stressful experience

Very disappointing and stressful experience. I booked and fully paid for this accommodation in advance, but just one day before check-in, the host informed me that he could not accommodate us because the apartment had been flooded. What was especially frustrating was the way the situation was handled. The host repeatedly tried to call me, even though I was at work and could not answer. He could have simply sent me a message through Booking, but he did not. As a result, I found out about the problem at the very last minute and had to urgently look for alternative accommodation. Because accommodation prices in Gdańsk had increased significantly, I had to pay around three times more for another place. This caused me a lot of stress and a significant additional expense. Even worse, the host did not cancel the reservation himself. Instead, he asked us to cancel it, promising that he would refund our money. However, when we contacted Booking support, the situation was treated as if we had cancelled the reservation ourselves. As a result, Booking did not compensate us for the difference in price between the original accommodation and the much more expensive replacement. I find this extremely unfair and disappointing. If the host was genuinely unable to provide the accommodation, he should have cancelled the reservation himself and taken responsibility for the situation instead of asking the guests to do it. I understand that a flood can be an unexpected event, but the way the host handled the situation was very irresponsible and caused us significant inconvenience and financial loss. I would not recommend this accommodation and, personally, I would not trust this host again.

Apartament ok, podejście do klienta zostawia wiele do życzenia
