be careful it's a scam

Nothing

I had to pay a 120 pound deposit after paying for the room without telling me first. I deposited 120 pounds for 2 nights and when I asked for my deposit back they refused because they smelled cigarette smoke. I don't smoke and there was no way to get my deposit back, so a room with nothing in it cost me 220 pounds. I would have booked at the Marriott with that money.

A comfortable, well maintained studio with everything you need and excellent communication from the host.

Really enjoyed my stay here for the week. The studio was clean, comfortable and very well maintained, with pretty much everything I needed for a longer stay. The shower was great, the location was convenient and the accommodation felt very easy to settle into. Communication with the host was excellent throughout and everything was straightforward from arrival to departure. I also really appreciated how well looked after the property was and would happily stay again.

Very little to fault overall. The only thing I would suggest is that the mattress could perhaps do with being replaced or upgraded, as I found it a little uncomfortable. Aside from that, I had a very positive experience.

Disgusting and disappointing level of cleanliness and poor overall condition. Bad customer service.

Unfortunately, I found the cleanliness of the apartment to be well below a reasonable standard for paid accommodation, and overall I did not feel that it was worth the price. The biggest concern was the bed and sleeping area. The bed frame was visibly dirty, with a significant amount of historic grime and dirt around the slats and underneath the frame. This made me uncomfortable about sleeping in the bed and, understandably, made me question how thoroughly the bedding had been cleaned. When I looked at the mattress itself, it was also visibly stained and dirty. The condition of both the bed frame and mattress was, in my view, beyond what should reasonably be expected in paid accommodation. There were also other signs that the property had not been properly cleaned between guests. The back of the main door was visibly dirty, to the point that I felt uncomfortable touching it. The main bin had also not been emptied, with tissues and an egg box left behind by a previous guest. These details contributed to an overall feeling that the apartment had not been properly prepared for my arrival. The apartment also appeared to be in a general state of disrepair. Rather than giving the apartment a homely or welcoming feel, this resulted in a rather shabby and poorly maintained appearance. I appreciate that this is not a luxury property, and I would not expect everything to be perfect. However, basic cleanliness and reasonable maintenance are fundamental, regardless of the standard or price point of accommodation. Unfortunately, I felt that this property fell below that basic standard.

Stay well away

The location was ideal but it realy stops there.

The host straight away was doggy. I boiked early and then found out he wanted a securety deposit. I informed him I didn't know there waa a deposiit and asked if I could have it waved on this occasion being the end of the month and my fu ds were low. He didn't reply for three days by which I travelled down expecting this tobe softed. Just before check in he replied saying the company policy wouldn't allow it. I said I would need my money back to try and find somewhere else. The answere was he couldn't and needed £120 security deposit. I was unable to get intouch with anyone as they were on holiday and there was no reception. I ended up spending the first night sleeping in the car. When friends and family saw my missed calls they contacted me and forwarded me the funds. However it was a personal account which straight away made me susspisous. However I had no choice but to pay it. Hours later he replied with the key code. I entered the appartment which seem to have a bunk type bed in-which I was too.tired to climb into. I brought my own towels and stuff so didn't need anything I catalouged things that wasn't wkrking like the TV knowing he might try to say this was done by me. The end of my stay he text me to give him a goid review. I said nothing just sent my bank details. That same day he sent me a text saying he found stains on the sheets and chair and did I know what it was. I was fuming and told him what I thought of him and his scam. He then said the sheetts wete fine but he had to get the get the chair specially cleaned. I told him the chair was old and stained on my arival. I then aaked him to provide dated proof in the form of a receipt. Stragely e nough he failed to answere. Booking.com dont seem to be helpfull in this regard so just do yourselves a favour and stay away from this persons prperty.

Really enjoyed my stay here for the week. The studio was clean, comfortable and very well maintained, with pretty much everything I needed for a longer stay. The size and layout.It was very tidy and clean, and the host was very friendly and helpful. There were most of the facilities you'd want in a self contained environment. The area was on a busy road, but was not intrusive. Despite the heat, the apartment was cool and airy.l slept well, the bed was well supported and comfortable. I have made a few suggestions below, but overall, l would recommend it to others on a budget, and l would happpily return!

Just little things: Key to apartment l couldnt lock from the inside!The outside street door was awkward to lock from the outside, but l got the hang of it on the last day as l was leaving. The fridge ice box wasnt an ice box...my icecreams melted in there. A tinopener could have been helpful!
