Ideally situated in the Zittau Mountains Nature Park, our "Landhaus Habichtnest" is located in the village of Bertsdorf-Hörnitz. Bertsdorf-Hörnitz was voted "Saxony’s Most Beautiful Village" in a 2003 competition. Many historic half-timbered houses and mature trees adorn the village at the foot of the Zittau Mountains.
It is only about 1,500 meters from the lake and 2,000 meters from the swimming beach on Lake Olbersdorf, as well as in close proximity to the mountain towns of Oybin and Jonsdorf and right next to the historic city of Zittau. There are very few vacation homes located this close to the beach of the so-called “O-See.” You can reach the Olbersdorfer See recreational oasis after a leisurely 15- to 20-minute walk past fields and horse paddocks and through a small birch forest. By bike, it takes about 8 minutes to reach the beach; by car, it’s a 3-minute drive to the beach parking lot.
A circular hiking trail runs around Olbersdorfer See; starting from the house, this beautiful route through nature with stunning views takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. The small village of Bertsdorf-Hörnitz has its own station on the Zittau narrow-gauge railway. In the surrounding forests, you’ll find many native mushroom species in the fall.
You’ll find a large garden plot enclosed by tuba hedges and a modern vacation home built in 2007 (completely renovated in 2024). High-quality furnishings, two bedrooms, a modern and fully equipped kitchen, and a shower/toilet make it suitable for up to 6 people. With its convenient location, the house serves as an ideal starting point for exploring the unique “Zittauer Gebirge Nature Park” region.
