A magnificent vacation rental with a private pool in the Vaucluse region of Provence, set in a beautiful, enclosed garden with trees. This charming stone house is located in the wooded hills above the lovely village of Mornas, in the Côtes-du-Rhône region, 15 km from the Roman city of Orange, which is dominated by a magnificent 11th-century fortress offering stunning costumed and animated tours, as well as a breathtaking view of the valley. You’ll be charmed by the tranquility of this setting, the appeal of this large, authentic building, its splendid glass roof, the large private pool equipped with an outdoor kitchen, the shaded pétanque court, and the various terrace areas… 6 air-conditioned bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, one of which is en suite with bedroom No. 6, 2 living rooms with fireplaces, a large kitchen, a foosball table, 4 adult bicycles, and 3 children’s bicycles are also at your disposal. The listed monuments of Orange, such as the Ancient Theater and the Arc de Triomphe, and the villages along the Côtes-du-Rhône Tourist Route—including Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, and Beaumes-de-Venise—are well worth a visit. You’ll be less than an hour away from the Camargue, with its wild expanses and animals roaming freely; the spectacular Ardèche Gorges with their open-air cafés and night markets; Mont Ventoux and its wooded trails; the listed villages of the Luberon, and those of the Drôme des Collines. You’ll be captivated by the sight of the sculptural Dentelles de Montmirail, a renowned rock-climbing site nestled among the classified vineyards. For more urban excursions, nearby Avignon, Nîmes, Apt, Carpentras, and Uzès are well worth a visit and are home to fabulous architectural treasures. The house is very large with the bedrooms quite separate from each other. There are 3 lots of 2 bedrooms. This worked for us as we had 3 lots of us so we each had our own space and our own bathrooms. There are however a lot of stairs which wasn't ideal with the two toddlers we had but they managed.
The playroom had lots of toys, which our children loved playing with. There is a big table to eat outside with an outside kitchen and fridge, although the hob outside wasn't working.
The house was not thoroughly cleaned when we arrived so this was rather disappointing, there was a lot of dust in the sitting room and the sofas are very grubby. The pool area is nice and there are lots of chairs around the edge. Unfortunately the pool was not cleaned whilst we were there and there was a big storm one night so the base of the pool was all green and it was full of leaves so we couldn't enjoy it on our final day.
Overall it was a good house with a lot of space but it would have been useful to know about the number of steps throughout the property.
