Disappointing experience. I did not check in due to the owner’s incompetence and poor handing.
None as didnot manage to check in. Cancelled the booking due to owner mishandling of the booking
There was no communication from the owner after the booking was confirmed. My request for early check-in was never responded to.
On the day of check-in, all calls went to voicemail. Check-in was supposed to be at 3:00 PM, but only then did the owner reply via WhatsApp around 1:40PM requesting a RM300 security deposit before check-in.
Given the complete lack of response prior to this, I was not comfortable transferring any money. Thankfully, the owner agreed to cancel both of my bookings (total of 3 days) without penalty, but this left me having to find alternative accommodation at the last minute.
Overall, this was a stressful and unprofessional experience.
Future guests should be cautious due to poor and lack of communication from the owner. Definitely will not engage with owner again.
Updated review--- This is not our first time renting a homestay. Based on our past travel experiences, we usually receive some form of communication from the owner regarding check-in arrangements and security deposit reminders after booking.
Unfortunately, we did not receive any communication prior to or on the day of check-in. Our calls were not answered and went to voicemail. We only managed to receive a response after contacting the owner via WhatsApp.
What is most unacceptable is that we were later blamed for not “reading the terms” on Booking.com. The owner’s responsibility is to communicate check-in details clearly, yet there was complete silence from the day we booked until the check-in time itself. We have clear proof of lack of communication from their side. Where in Booking.com were the check-in instructions provided? Where were guests supposed to go? No guidance was given at all.
We hope future guests can be provided with clearer and more timely communication to ensure a smoother check-in experience.
