Beautiful Home

I love the home it was very beautiful, it has a lot of space and i love how they respond back fast for every question i had. I like how clean the house was overall.

That the patio was very weak, someone can hurt themselves. I didnt like how the garage door didnt open from the garage button by the front door.

Too bad good to be true - lost all my money, not given address or access, booking.com did not respond and now don’t care

The photos looked nice, but sadly we never got access to the house to stay there.

Short answer: the terms on the booking page don’t list that you have to send passport photos via gmail or a deposit via a non-business account. These are usually signs of a scam. I couldn’t contact booking.com for help. Now the vendor has taken all the payment (but didn’t give me an address or doorcode), I did not get to stay, and booking.com will not do anything about it. Long answer: I would have loved to stay in this property, and we booked it last minute as we needed somewhere to stay that night. I booked the property for 4 nights. Unfortunately, the vendors’ behaviour after I booked it was very suspicious, which led me to fear it was fraudulent. They insisted I sent photos of the passports of two of the other guests to a Gmail account, even though the listing said we could show them upon check-in. In their first messages they had said that it could be sent by booking.com chat, but booking.com sent two automated messages warning me not to send further information. Moreover, they insisted on photos and it wasn’t possible to attach a photo to the chat. Additionally, they wanted a $350 damage deposit before I arrived via bank transfer or PayPal (there were some other online transfer options but I had never heard of them). When I asked for PayPal details, they said to send it via PayPal Friends and Family, not via PayPal Service. I offered to pay this in person as cash (so I could check the property existed and was as advertised), because their listings had said that was an option. But they said that was not an option, after I booked it. When I booked, there was no information saying I would need to send sensitive passport photos via a non-secure method, or send money through a non-business account (see screenshot attached). At this point, I contacted booking.com Customer Service via webchat for help, and to ask them to block the payment. They did not reply for 5 days, when the payment had already gone to the vendor.
