Today, cyclists set off from here on the famous Danube Cycle Path or enjoy a leisurely boat ride through the Wachau region. Just a few steps away, you’ll find cozy cafés, such as the popular Café Central or the Rathauskeller Café with its lovely outdoor seating area. For culinary highlights, I recommend the Restaurant Zur Post or the Koloman at Melk Abbey. Of course, no visit to the Wachau is complete without a glass of regional wine—for example, at the surrounding wine taverns in Spitz or Weißenkirchen.
In addition to Melk Abbey, other great options for day trips include the Aggstein Ruins, Göttweig Abbey, or a trip to Krems and Dürnstein. If you enjoy being active, you can cycle along the Danube, go hiking, or explore the Wachau by boat.
