We stayed five nights and the house really does feel 500 years old, in a good way. Ceilings are high, the stone keeps the ground floor cool, and the arches and thick walls make it feel like a castle room rather than a holiday rental. Walking back after dinner was a highlight, with the streets gently and beautifully lit and hardly a soul about.
Check-in was easy: self check-in with a door code, so no keys to carry around or lose. Renata was helpful throughout. The kitchen is well equipped and the coffee machine got daily use.
The location is the real draw. Birgu is quiet once the day visitors leave, the waterfront is two minutes away, and the Valletta ferry is a short walk. There are some great places to eat across the water, which makes for an easy evening stroll.
Worth knowing: there’s a high step up from the street into the house, so mind it with luggage or if mobility is an issue. The beds weren’t the most comfortable but that seems to be a common problem and subjective. A few reviewers mention patchy wifi, but ours was fine and we streamed Strictly without a hiccup.
Best for couples and friends who want character over hotel polish.
No window you can actually see out of on the ground floor which makes it a bit dark but if you want baronial splendour you have to accept some things.... Sparse seating downstairs means spacious and stylish but an armchair might be nice.

Beautiful building with good shower, facilities and well equipped kitchen. Tastefully restored ancient buildings in great location. Good communication with owners.
Better quality pillows and for the second bed to be more comfortable.

Die ruhige Lage am Ortseingang von Birgu. Nur wenige Minuten Fußweg zur Valletta Fähre und zur Buslinie 2. Die Ausstattung der Wohnung ist super und alle Fotos und Beschreibungen stimmen überein. Ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt.
