The residence is named Casa dell’Aviatore in honor of the adventurous Venetian pilot Fabio Zoppolato (1920-2020), who lived within these walls for nearly a century and who, in the 1950s, undertook an epic flight across the entire African continent, from South Africa to his beloved Venice, in a tiny airplane with canvas wings, a wooden propeller, and no radio. This flight still stands today as an aviation record.
