Nice stay, but the park could do with a bit of TLC

The lodge was spacious and facilities were basic but clean and comfortable. The location of the lodge was lovely on the waterside and close to local amenities, easy to find. The beds were comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. The whole of the park was fairly quiet throughout as well.

The hot tub was clean, but the jets didn’t work very well even when turned the whole way up. The “lake” in front of the lodge smelled and had a fair bit of litter in it. When walking around the rest of the park there was also litter about and the other lakes were very dirty too. We also didn’t receive any check in details prior to our stay and had to chase these up ourselves, and didn’t get any responses from the property at all through booking.com. We asked for a later check out and had no response, and then when we rang on the morning of check out were met with a very rude response to say they needed 24 hours notice (this isn’t explained anywhere we could see). The check out times also vary from advertised on booking.com to the welcome pack information so it’s a bit confusing.

The place was clean, and good for a few days stay. A bit small for our family of four of us to stay for longer than a few days. Hottub was well maintained, and they checked it each day.

The staff weren't very friendly, nor helpful. Honestly the reception staff didn't seem to want to be bothered or forth with. When we arrived there was barely a smile or word, other than the formalities. A sign of the times I guess, but as a business owner myself front of house staff are a representation of the business.
