Can not recommend and now we are seeing other similar reviews which means this is not an isolated incident.
Location overall was good but much farther walking to train station than advertised. Google Maps walking distance was 17 minutes. (Image included)
A Complete Nightmare in Vancouver – Do Not Stay Here
We booked this rental for our family of 16 to spend a few days in Vancouver prior to our cruise. Given the high hotel prices and limited availability due to the World Cup, as well as the listing's claim of a 5-minute walk to the nearest train station, it seemed like the ideal choice to avoid renting multiple cars. While the owners were initially responsive to our pre-trip questions, the actual condition and location of the house made this stay the biggest mistake of our trip and a total nightmare.
Inaccurate Listing & Misleading Photos
Location Discrepancy: Upon arrival, we checked MapQuest and discovered the house is a 17-minute walk from the train station, not the advertised 5 minutes.
Outdated Photos: The pictures used online were real estate photos from when the property was sold, not current images reflecting its true state.
Unbearable Living Conditions & Unsafe Health Hazards
Severe Heat & Poor Ventilation: There was zero air conditioning during a heatwave, with nighttime temperatures climbing above 90 degrees. Only a few windows opened, none of which had screen coverings. This severe environment caused my 76-year-old father to have serious trouble breathing.
Pest Infestation: Mouse droppings were scattered across the house, including on the living room couches. Spiders were present throughout the entire home, particularly in the basement where we literally saw them crawling out of our luggage.
Subpar Furniture: The mattresses were paper-thin and supported by extremely flimsy bed frames.
Broken & Incomplete Kitchen Amenities
Severe Lack of Supplies: The kitchen was grossly under-equipped with hardly any pots, pans, or dishware.
Malfunctioning Appliances: In the main kitchen, the oven worked but the stovetop range was completely broken. In the side kitchen area, the stovetop functioned, but the sink did not work at all.
