About this house rental
Recently, the Morvan, which is not only recognized as one of the oldest natural parks in France, has also become a star park. It is an area that preserves darkness and was awarded the International Dark Sky Reserve (RICE) label in 2025. Here you can truly experience the stars as if they were at your fingertips.
Ancestral paths, already trodden by the Celts and Romans, run directly alongside our property. About 500 metres upstream, there are the remains of a 2000-year-old Gallo-Roman theatre, which in turn stood on an even older Celtic place of worship. Our house is supplied directly with water from a spring under the old theatre. We can therefore say that our mineral-rich drinking water was probably used for ritual purposes in the past.
Those who occasionally want to get away from this beautiful seclusion will find magnificent lakes for swimming nearby, such as the Lac des Settons or the Lac de Pannecières. In addition, major cultural discoveries are never far away. Think, for example, of the world-famous Romanesque churches such as the cathedral of Autun or the basilica of Vézelay, as well as the unique museum of Celtic civilization near Mont Beuvray.
In general, Autun, located only 30 km away, encourages multiple historical and cultural explorations. It was founded in the time of Emperor Augustus under the name of Augustodunum, with the ambition of becoming a second Rome.
