Welcome to the former schoolhouse in the Schweigen district, described in a 1952 newspaper article as “the most beautiful schoolhouse in the Palatinate.” The old schoolhouse is situated on a slight hill in the center of Schweigen, right next to the sculpture garden in the community park. The vineyards and the wine trail begin almost right behind the house, and the edge of the forest is not far away. The historic town of Wissembourg in Alsace is within walking distance.
In the wider area, to the north lie the spa town of Bad Bergzabern as well as Landau and Speyer; to the east, Karlsruhe and the Black Forest;
and to the south, Alsace and Strasbourg. To the west lies the Palatinate Forest, Germany’s largest contiguous forest area.
Overall, Schweigen is a charming town with numerous excellent winemakers, wineries, and wine shops, as well as fine Palatinate cuisine, all offering a special charm and a relaxed atmosphere.
