You come back from the beach on your bike, still with a bit of sand on your legs, chill the wine, and leave the patio door open. From the garden, there’s a soft humming among the hydrangeas and olive willows; somewhere, wood crackles in the fireplace; and in the kitchen, that part of the evening begins that we often forget at home: cooking together, laughing, shucking oysters, pouring another glass—and suddenly realizing that hours have passed.
Later, perhaps someone will slip away from the small home library with a Sylt mystery novel and head for the sofa, while others are still sitting at the large table. Perhaps the evening will also end in the house’s own KLAFS sauna or later in the bathtub, with warm water, an open window, and that special island tranquility that you only experience at night on Sylt.
