It was a cheeper than surrounding hotels, and close enough to the convention center.
Everything was just a bit run down.

The location was great.
The mold around the entire shower. The bedding looked old and the shower curtain was pinkish at the bottom I think from bacteria.

we needed a handicapped room and we were given an upgrade. we needed a king size bed and handicapped bathroom but to accommodate both we had been given a two bedroom with a queen size bed with a handicapped bathroom and the king sized bedroom had the usual bathroom.
I had surgery the day after our arrival and the seating in the rooms did not take handicapped accessibility into account. A chair with sturdy arms would have been very appreciated! There was a lot of street racing near the property and nights were noisy.

Great sized two bedroom suite for my group. Two bathrooms, love the common space and kitchen ammenities! Enjoyed the fireplace ambience and the tv. Even had a dining room table!
Only complaint is the uncomfy sofa bed

The staff here are wonderful. The front desk clerk was helpful and courteous. Lois, the housekeeper was very accommodating. The woman who worked in the dining room was friendly and efficient. I am a fan of Marriott’s!
There is no good area to walk my dog near by,

The hotel is conveniently located near the airport. I like the fact that Residence Inn comes with a kitchen.
I was supposed to check-in in the evening, but my plans changed and I called the front desk to tell them, though the room type (1 bed room) I booked was allocated to someone else, I was upgraded (to 2 bed room) free of charge.
The upgraded room was horrible! There were no pillows on the couch, there was just a single pan to cook and was like a pot with a round wobbly bottom, no utensils. No dishwashing liquid and scrub was provided. The toilet was dirty! The bedroom cupboard had a dirty ear bud.
Dark living room with no lights in the corners.
I have stayed at other Residence Inns in Redmond and Bellevue, this one is a real bad one. Does not do justice for the value it offers.
Don't stay here, unless you have no other place to go.

The facilities were clean and the room was nice and large!
The location in Portland isn’t great. There seemed to be some gang activity outside the property when we returned to our room that night, and there were homeless people trying to enter the property the next morning.
Our vehicle was also hit in the parking lot that night or early that morning, so we’re dealing with a hit and run after our stay. I’m hoping we can get video footage.

This was the only minor inconvenience from our trip. We were advised on check in that Breakfast was from 6:00-9:00 daily and we thought that would work out perfectly as we were on a fairly tight time schedule. What we found each morning was they began setting up for Breakfast around 6:00 and anything beyond cold cereal would be closer to 6:30 or later. Not a big deal by a means , just had to seek out breakfast elsewhere.

breakfast was good with ample options. room was very good for the price .
no ice machines and ice maker in rooms refer took forever. seems covid has put the only close eating joint out of business. weekend breakfast didn't start till 7am same time the swap meet opened. be glad when the construction around the property is complete.

Staff person at Residence Inn was reasonably friendly. Staff at Courtyard were not helpful. No one apologized.
I reserved my room at Residence Inn - one bedroom with king bed and sofa bed with kitchen- and guaranteed my stay by paying ahead - or so Booking.com told me. Getting to the hotel was challenging. Google maps sent us down a creepy dead end. The hotel is on a tight, windy street with cars packed on with side. Very odd area. Signage is terrible. Found our way to the back door. Once inside, the desk gal told me that my room was overbooked and we had been moved to the Courtyard Inn instead. No phone call. No notification. And to a room with a single king bed. There are THREE of us… and one is our exchange student. We could not all sleep in one bed! So they got us a double queen room. No kitchen, of course. Tiny little room. They offered to take $30 off one night. But we had zero say in the matter. No apology, even though I showed that booking.com receipt showed that my room was reserved and held by my credit card which was non-refundable and was to be paid before my stay. The desk person said, “Yeah… Booking.com says that and we could charge the room early but we don’t.” Which meant I didn’t actually have a reserved room. So we trudged back to our car and drove to the Courtyard Inn. Again, no apology. The parking garage there is literally a joke. (Had to pay for parking here and it had been free at Residence.)There are about 5 spaces that will fit a car other than a smart car. There is a large post that protrudes into every spot - so the width of the spots are about 5 feet wide. No chance of hitting my SUV in any of them. Tried to find street parking and even several blocks away, there was zero street parking available. I called back to Residence and expressed my frustration with the situation and asked if we could just park there. They did let us.
Our room at Courtyard is standard, basic, fine. But my experience with Marriott was extremely poor and I will NEVER book with Marriott (nor with booking.com) again.

Close to the advent that I went to.
Homeless camps everywhere!

The king bed was comfortable.
The building is older, A/C running constantly and the room still pretty warm. Our first room the toilet had no water in it so moved rooms to a roll in shower which was a mess. Water everywhere including around the toilet. Poor draining design. Sofa bed saggy and not very comfortable. Key cards didn't work for all entrances which was frustrating to have to walk all around to get in.
