Hilltop Inn & Suites, near Foxwoods Casino

Continental breakfast was great! Lots of offerings and well attended by staff. Room was clean and comfortable and bathroom and toilettries appropriately stocked. Temperature control in room was good. Adequate TV. Mini-fridge was useful. Place was packed and neighbors were quiet when they came back late from the casino. Overall very good stay and accommodations.

No one answered the phone when we called approximately 30 minutes before our arrival to check if it was okay that we were arriving a few hours early, and when we arrived to check-in there was a sign saying "be back in 5 minutes". The front-desk phone was ringing off the hook the entire time we were waiting, so we figured the desk was unattended back when we were calling, too. But we can't verify because we weren't physically there yet. Two other parties arrived and joined the wait with us, and shortly after that a cleaning person came through the lobby and called the front desk attendant who showed up a few minutes after that. One of our party had to use the bathroom upon our arrival and there wasn't a public toilet in the lobby, so that could have been bad. All in all we waited a little under 10 minutes, so not too bad. Can we believe the "be back in 5 minutes sign" then? Regardless, it was odd nobody was there to receive us after traveling a ways to get there. Not a hugely negative thing, just not what to expect for a hospitality business to not have enough staff ready to check-in people or answer phones.

The room was very clean, and housekeeping came every day to keep it fresh and tidy. I really appreciated that.

The cost was affordable and location was great.

The rooms did not have the best ventilation. Our room smelled musty and the air quality was horrible. The mattresses were uncomfortable.
