Nothing really went well on this trip. Difficult to report anything positive. The breakfast was mediocre. The accommodation was terrible.
The gite was filthy. We were absolutely disgusted. The kitchen was dirty on arrival - dirty fridge, bins hadn't been emptied, sink was dirty, glasses in the cupboard were dirty. A pleasant member of staff came to resolve the situation - he cleaned the sink and glasses but didn't do the fridge or take the bins away. The bedrooms were thick with dust. Dust was everywhere. The floors were dirty. All the rugs were dirty. Our child found finger nails in her bed and in the master bedroom there were hairs in the bed. The furniture was absolutely worn out. I feel like the owners are living in a parallel universe renting out the gite to this standard in 2023, it was horrible. 10 year anniversary with my wife spoiled. We could not wait to leave.
Furthermore the swimming pool was dirty so we told our children they couldn't swim in it. Thank god we did, because an hour after that the pergola blew into the pool. It wasn't strapped down! The member of staff who came to retrieve the pergola seemed to find it amusing. I explained to the management on site that it would have caused a death but I am not sure they grasped the reality. Lots of excuses and referring to a 'directrice' who was not available as she was on her holidays (in high season!). Disappointed, angry, frustrated and feeling robbed of 180 euros. Fire extinguishers in our gite were also outside of their validity for inspection. I have waited a week to post this review because I have tried to take this up with the management but they do not appear willing to engage. Such a shame.

Comfy and quirky. Good facilities including a pool and lovely breakfast.
Slightly odd bathroom in the main bedroom!

Lovely old house with traditional furniture, it felt as if we were staying in someone’s home. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We had forgotten to pre book a wine tasting but managed to get a space for that afternoon. Meals were served in the family dining room, and everyone shares tables. Supper is a fixed four course menu, we found the food delicious and very good value. You serve yourself drinks from an honesty bar. There was a good selection of different foods for the buffet breakfast. We enjoyed an evening stroll around the quiet small village.
The toilet in our room was in a tiny room, my husband’s knees were touching the door!

A return trip to enjoy the charming old building and its great facilities. We love the space, location (quick cycle to the river/canal path) and shared pool access as well as having the private parking and garden.

Nothing...we didn't take swimmers so couldn't use the pool.

Nice hotel in rural setting not far from Auxerre. The room was nice but the toilet was leaking. The quality of the mattress was not perfect.
Overall a pleasant accommodation but can do with modernizing.
Plumbing of the toilet and the way basin spraying out.

1) Great location.
2)Comfy traditional room with kitchenette. Good anyway but would be great if using it as a base for a few days of local exploring.
3) The wine and crémant: I love the the full range
What I missed from our first visit some years ago and why I wanted to do a repeat. This was all about staying at a wine domaine for dinner, bed and breakfast and getting to know the producers and learning about their products. Thanks to Booking, we have had several delightful stopovers as we motor between our home in Luxembourg and the holiday home on the west coast of France, including Borgnat.
When we came last time, the wine-tasting moved on to a traditional-course Burgundian dinner. Each course was introduced by the chef and was accompanied by the appropriate Borgnat wine. This was great as a 2nd tasting with the right food and the chance to talk about it.
This time we had 2 separate experiences:
1) Arrival at a wine domaine and a tasting.
2) Dinner, bed and breakfast next door which was fine but you had no idea you were in a wine domaine. Dinner itself was ok but the presentation was poor. We were sat in a very small room which was only just big enough to have a table for 6. The food was then "served", aka delivered and placed silently in bulk at the end of the table as the waitress could not get round the table. So, we (my wife and I and 2 other couples) had to serve ourselves and pass the food around. We weren't even offered any wine...........................................

Great living space, tastefully decorated and clean. Breakfast and dinner were both adequate. Situated in a wine- growing area, which was quiet and restful.
Nothing to dislike.

Beautiful architecture, great wine tasting experience , lovely staff, beautiful village.
Booked it as we thought we could have dinner there, but on arrival, we were told it was too late even though it was 3 pm. Paid 80 euros to go into town and back for dinner in a taxi!
Also, although the wine tasting was great, we only heard about it from another guest. The hotel never informed us that we could do it.
So more information would be great.
So contact the hotel before you go to book dinner and wine tasting.

Great venue and accommodation. Nice dinner around communal table.
Dinner was nice and plentiful but not quite as nice as last time we visited.

Fantastic stylish old buildings, well maintained and full of character.
Friendly, helpful staff. The tour of the wine cellars and the tasting afterwards was interesting and great fun. We stocked up with several cases.
Enjoyed a beautiful regional evening meal, very reasonably priced with the opportunity to try several of the domains own wines.
Overall a fabulous 3 days of our French tour
The pool facilities are in need of renovation as they are being used as a store room, but that was a very minor issue.

Amazing location. Beautiful property. Great facilities including a pool and the bathroom facilities and extras were lovely. Can’t fault it.
Got a little confused in finding the office and knowing where to pay and it was very quiet at times with little to no staff around but we arrived late and left early.

it was stunning so well organized , pretty bathroom , thought of everything u would need down to flannels ! and somewhere to dry swimming bits if needed ! air con , so well thought through with bedding , space , the views were stunning and pool just beautiful and clean !
if I had to write something I’d say it would be nice on the tea tray to have sone normal tea not just fruit or earl grey , no coffee and no milk , would have been nice to have a selection :)
sadly dishwasher hadn’t been put on so was full of dirties but didn’t cause any problem as easy mistake to miss !

We really enjoyed the dinner with all the guests like a family dinner. We were able to choose our wine from the fridge and sign for it and pay at checkout.
Perhaps a second choice for dinner?

The premises is very charming and authentic. Old school rooms with traditional feel. The food was okay but very special for the relatively low price it is okay.
We very much enjoyed the local wine.
Special thanks to Anaïs for her welcoming character and help!
The breakfast is simple and set up a bit strangely. When we arrived at the breakfast table some things were not available anymore.
The room was quite large. Because it’s an old building, the floors are cracking a lot. The shower could use a little shelf to put your soap and shampoo on.
The proposed tour and wine tasting is not free, obviously this is okay but it’s good to know this in advance.
