We had booked a double deluxe room at the Frogmill, on arrival we were informed that our room was not ready, along with all the other deluxe rooms due to a late check out. No apology, discount, solution was offered by the person behind the desk and we were informed that we would have to wait and quickly asked for a pre payment card for any extras.
When I explained that I was not happy with not having access to our room, that we had travelled two hours to the hotel with the idea to enjoy the hotel facilities we were again told the rooms are dirty and there is nothing they can do. When I said it wasn’t good enough and can I complain and request a discount we were informed that it wouldn’t be worth a discount as we booked via booking.com and as such any refund would take 28 days. Eventually on my suggestion I was offered a 20% discount on our evening meal. Which totaled £13.80.
We were not proactively offered any apology, discount or solution and I found the person behind the desk indifferent to the situation, I was horrified to learn that the person I was speaking to was general manager Mathew Cain, I found his attitude to not be appropriate due to the failings of the hotel he is responsible for. The expectation was that a late check in should not be an issue and that because we had pre paid via booking.com it didn’t matter.
We were finally let in our room, 50minutes late, leaving only a few hours to enjoy the room before having to go to dinner. Whilst in the room we found a dirty tea spoon. Also we came across the hotels policy on late check out which states, late checkouts can be arranged for a cost of £20 and notice should be giving “where possible” it would appear the hotel were happy with the financial gain of someone completing a late check out without. the hotel has also failed to respond to booking.com about this issue

The hotel bedrooms are simply gorgeous! Beds super comfy and rooms exceptionally clean. The housekeeping team here are excellent. Staff very professional and friendly. Food excellent. Bar very warm, cosy and inviting! We had a cosy double, deluxe double, King Deluxe x 2 and ALL rooms were very very nice indeed and the soft furnishing in the rooms and hotel in general (in the bar and restaurant) were all very tasteful and we just loved being there. 100% we would return to this hotel. Our 2 night experience was just so enjoyable!
I would have loved to enjoy the outdoors but the weather in January does not allow but I shall return so I can enjoy this hotel in good weather. My only suggestion would be to add natural yoghurt and berries to the breakfast buffet.

Staff were amazing, there is literally nothing I could fault on their professionalism and efforts to go above and beyond! Should be proud!
Do wish the cad park was lit up a bit more as it was very dark at nighttime ! But I am nitpicking

Comfortable room and decent water pressure in the shower.
Heated towel rail didn't appear to work, evidence of mildew in the shower, flickering lightbulb in the bathroom.

Lovely old stone, former mill. Sensitive restoration with local stone and timber.
Umm, can’t think of anything.

Room was very spacious and well laid out. There was actually a socket near to the mirror which you don't always get. Rate included breakfast and it was a treat. Full English beautifully cooked, plenty of coffee and Fresh Orange also.
Hotel is about 15 minutes outside Cheltenham so we decided to have dinner at the hotel. Again, we couldn't fault the food or service.

Smiling staff
Fabulous room suite. Curtains that swish-shower doors that glide. A deep heavenly roll top bath-
Sumptuous huge bed! Coffee Machine-Iron.
Designer decor-Lewis & Wood headboard/folk print lampshades/Feather & pressed flower pictures.
Fresh Milk in the bedroom for coffee would be appreciated & a saucer for the cup at breakfast
But that’s purely personal

Bed was very comfortable. Very quiet location.
Disappointed to find on arrival that my room wasn't in the actual hotel but across the road in an annex. At night there was no lighting leading up the irregular steps to the main entrance of the annex. It was very dark and I had to use the torch on my phone to navigate my way around despite there being lights installed along the path which were not switched on. Carpet was stained in several places, shower hose was dirty, bedside lamp didn't work, windows were grimy and a lot of dust on fixtures and fittings. Found a used dental brush on the windowsill in the bathroom and a split open punnet of grapes outside under the bedroom window when I checked in which was still there when I checked out 2 days later. No full length mirror - I was there to attend a wedding at a nearby venue. (This was however rectified quickly along with a replacement bulb in the bedside light) Not at all satisfactory at £150 a night room only rate (Breakfast being charged at an extra £15 per day) Very disappointing. Housekeeping definitely needs an upgrade!

Lovely beer garden & restaurant.
Breakfast was lukewarm.
Rooms in main building felt tired / flickering lights / worn looking carpet in hallway .

Breakfast & Dinner excellent, food good quality and cooked perfectly, hotel is tired and needs some attention. Room clean but attention to cleaning in general is needed, hoovering stairs and dusting would be a good start. Staff were lovely. Fire alarm went off when we were in bed, alarm rang for around 20 seconds and stopped, we started to leave then called reception but no answer? Mentioned it on check out to be told ‘ oh yeah, it’s an ongoing problem in a guest room!!’.
General lack of cleaning and attention to detail, shower grouting needs replacing, walls need painting, glasses were water stained, menus were food stained.

Room was good clean and had excellent shower and bath
I felt we were tucked away in a room that had a view of a laundry shed unlike the other similar rooms It felt we were given the second worst room because we had not booked direct
The other similar rooms had a small garden at the front
The room also smelled of dog

The property is absolutely beautiful , great location for exploring the villages , gorgeous outside area .
Second time we’ve stayed , the first was amazing! This time we were a little disappointed , would recommend NOT staying in room 25 , felt very disappointed with it, considering the surroundings this is tucked out of the way round a corner , like an area you would store the bins! not put your guests , a strong smell of cat urine too , breakfast was disappointing , for £15 for a cooked breakfast we would expect better, it was a rather small portion , the buffet was ok , not much choice but nice coffee ,last time we stayed the food was excellent , it put us off using the restaurant for our evening meals, we ate out instead .

It’s a very nice period property and the gardens are lovely. Our room was not in the main building, which was fine. The breakfast, although extra, was very nice and good value I would say. Finally, there was ample parking.
Because our room was also designed for disabled users the bathroom was not as suitable as it might have been. The room itself was large but a sink was situated in one corner, the toilet in the opposite corner and the shower, without tray, was stuck in the middle. Otherwise the bedroom itself was spacious enough for the three of us.

The vibe was just so cozy and the property is just so beautiful! The restaurant has just excellent food! The ambience at the bar and restaurant was also very romantic and cozy. Other tourist destinations are very close yo reach from here. All in all loved the stay. Would definitely recommend. Specially to couples looking for a romantic getaway.

Location was perfect, wedding venue up the road, was very idyllic and pretty. Rooms were cosy with good products. Really love the coffee machine and a nice added touch with a little bag of honeycomb. Beds were very comfy and clean.
The customer service myself and my friends received was inadequate. The staff member who checked us in was very rude. The same person then served our food in the evening. We waiting such a long time for our food after starters, and then 1 meal was inedible as the chicken burger was pink, a fillet steak which was very pricey was cooked wrong and all 6 meals weren't warm. When told about the chicken, the staff member made excuses and was extremely rude. He then had the audacity to come back and tell us that he checked the chicken and it was fine. We waited for the steak to get redone and waited for a further 20 minutes. When a lovely waitress came to clear the table, she seemed upset so when asked if she was okay, she responded with telling us that the previous rude staff member had told her it was her fault! They had taken both meals off the bill and added a further discount on top but its just frustrating going to an establishment that is ment to be high class and having quite a dissatisfying meal on such a special occasion.

In a very peaceful location, but only a short drive into Cheltenham. The facilities were stunning and very clean (bed really comfortable). Food at the restaurant was also lovely.
Not a dislike but property was very hot although heater was off.

One of the best hotels we have stayed in. Staff were all super friendly. Room was really large for the price. Facilities were super high quality
The only small gripe we had was our room was very warm. We turned the radiators off, but couldn't manage to open the windows. But that's only a small discomfort

The aesthetic was lovely, I have been to the frog mill twice before under different ownership. The charm of the building was as appealing as ever.
The lack of choice on the menu especially when told 4 of the dinner options on the menu were out. As well as the the one thing I wanted for breakfast was also not available. Being someone in the food industry, if you have something on the menu then make sure you have enough stock to offer it to all guests.
We were celebrating our first wedding anniversary, if I knew the service from the receptionist and the waiting staff would be stiff as well as the poor choice of food. I would have definitely booked somewhere else. It really let down our stay.

beautiful quaint hotel/ pub, so cosy with such a lovely atmosphere , amazing surroundings and views
little bit of maintenance required, eg, light bulbs not working, cobwebs in room, glasses not cleared away outside
