Hostile Host : Excellent position, badly run. The last night was the worst of our three weeks in Italy.

The location is decent. Largo Campo is in the heart of the old town, a few minutes from Via dei Mercanti.The apartment itself is a good size and the building is characterful.

I booked this apartment months in advance. The reservation recorded two guests and I noted on it that I was travelling with my mother, so the need for two made-up beds was on the booking from the day it was made. She is in her sixties and this was her first trip to Europe. The lift was out of service for the whole stay. A lift is advertised in the listing and it is one of the reasons I chose this flat. The apartment is on the second floor, so every arrival, departure and shopping trip meant carrying cases and bags up and down the stairwell. We arrived to one bed made up and the other stripped to a bare mattress protector. No sheets, no pillowcases, nothing. I asked for linen at 14:30, then again at 14:37, then again at 14:49. The first answer I got was that it would be sorted the next day, which would have left my mother or me sleeping on a bare mattress protector for the first night in Salerno. By six in the evening nothing had come, so I walked out to Kasanova on Corso Vittorio Emanuele and bought a bed set, a throw and a bag for EUR 27.30 of my own money, to make up a bed in an apartment I had already paid for. Linen finally arrived at 20:16, after I told the host I had gone out and bought my own, and the bed was made at 20:52, six hours after I first asked. We left the bedding we had bought behind when we went. There was no hot water in the showers at any point in four days. There is no coffee machine. A capsule machine appears in the listing photographs. In a self-catering flat that is not nothing, and it meant going out for the first coffee every day. I raised all of this with Booking.com from the first night, in writing, through their own customer service thread. I asked for the cost of the bedding to be deducted at checkout and for the billing to be looked at, since the flat was not what had been sold.

Location with all restaurants and supermarket very close. Contact with the owner was very good and quick

It is noisy in the early morning, we couldn't sleep from 6 am. Bathroom and shower is very small. And balcony for one foot ;)

Should be taken down from platform

We had an extremely poor experience renting this apartment. The mattresses and bedding were shockingly uncomfortable and of very poor quality, making it impossible to get a good night’s sleep. The facilities overall were inadequate and did not come close to what was promised in the listing. Basic expectations for comfort and privacy were not met — there was a tea towel thrown over a window in place of a proper curtain. Cleanliness was clearly not a priority, with the apartment reeking of air fresheners, seemingly used to mask a lack of genuine cleaning. Communication with the host was appalling. The host was at times vile and offensive in their messages to us (as can be seen from their response below), which made the whole experience even more upsetting and stressful. Such discriminatory language should have no place in this day and age. This property is absolutely not suitable for rental through Booking.com, and I would strongly urge Booking.com to take this listing down to protect other travelers from a similarly awful stay. Avoid at all costs.

Airco was niet opgewassen tegen de hitte buiten - de matrassen zijn aan vervanging toe. Keuken heeft weinig spullen. Magnetron en paar extra borden bakjes glazen zou mooi zijn. Douche kan ook een opknapbeurt gebruiken
