About this house rental

La Pergola di Amalia is divided into four independent units, each consisting of a bedroom(s) and a private bathroom with a shower.

The kitchen is fully equipped (refrigerator-freezer, convection oven, dishwasher, gas stove) and features a beautiful fireplace. There is an additional 240-liter refrigerator-freezer in the living room.

The living room is very spacious and bright.

Each area is equipped with individually controlled air conditioning and heating.

In the “ortale” (an open area, from the Spanish “huerto”) there is a covered dining area with a sink and a barbecue. In the open area, there is a shower and a garden with a magnificent lemon tree, a peach tree, and a small grapevine pergola, as well as rosemary, basil, mint, and lavender.

Amalia’s pergola is named after Aunt Amalia, who lived here from the 1920s to the 1970s. The house’s origins, however, date back even further and are linked to great-grandmother Pasana, who lived at the turn of the 20th century. The structure reflects the architectural style of past centuries, with houses extending lengthwise from the street to a large inner courtyard—the “ortale”—which provided light and air. The current house is the result of a renovation that sought to preserve traditional features while integrating modern functionality and comfort. Four openings were created in the ceiling of the large living room to allow light and air to enter; through glass-block elements, these reach two central rooms that previously had no windows. The barrel and star-vaulted ceilings have been exposed, and the rainwater collection system has been restored; the collected water is now used to flush the bathrooms and irrigate the garden; the southern sun is harnessed to produce hot water via a solar panel: environmental sustainability and the “circular economy” are second nature here.

Layout of the 4 units

Cesare (approx. 30 sq m, max 5 guests) – 1 single bed and 1 queen-size bed + 1 sofa bed with pull-out bed (total of 2 additional single beds). It also has direct access from Via Cesare.

Carrozza (approx. 30 sq. m., max. 6 guests) – 1 double bed + 1 bunk bed + 2 sofa beds (one of which is a bit small). It also has direct access to the garden.

Stella (approx. 20 sq m) - 3 single beds, two of which can be pushed together to form a double bed

Mansarda (approx. 20 sq m) - 1 large double bed

Layout of common areas
Porch, approx. 70 sq m, of which 16 are covered and 20 are garden
Living room: approx. 42 sq m
Kitchen: approx. 9 sq m
A camp bed is available upon request.
For safety reasons, access to the roof is prohibited. The coast, about a 15-minute drive away, has once again received high honors this year: the nearby beaches of Campomarino (Maruggio), San Pietro in Bevagna (Manduria), and Baia D’Argento (Leporano) have been awarded the 2024 Blue Flag.

The property was very clean and convenient to everything in Sava. Cutest little town. The host went above and beyond helping us coordinate a cook to come in and create a menu and serve us dinner at home! We were exhausted after 2 days of wine shopping in the region and had 2 small kids and our dogs with us. It was perfect! Highly recommended!

We had everything we needed. The home was charming and clean. Gemma was a delight! The only regret is that we didn’t have more time!!
