About this villa rental
Nestled in Camps Bay, this attractive villa for $332 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Sun Lion Villa, with its original and inspired architecture, is a house built to maximise the appreciation of the landscape that surrounds it. Viewed from the terrace, a sweeping panorama encompasses the Atlantic Ocean, Table Mountain, Lions Head and the Twelve Apostles. Built on an incline, the deck, swimming pool and garden overlook the coastline and setting sun. In keeping with the style of the rest of the house, the swimming pool has no square edges or corners, and blends into the surrounding shape of the private garden and lawn. A perimeter wall insures both pool and garden are protected from the gazes of neighbours and passers-by, allowing the guest total privacy. it is extremely rare to find good-sized, detached properties for rent with so few bedrooms, because the average house in Camps Bay has 4 or 5 bedrooms, making it prohibitively expensive for smaller numbers of occupants to find somewhere if they desire the privacy of an entire property to themselves. Information for golfers: The following nine golf courses are within a half hour drive from Sun Lion Villa: Bellville, Clovelly, Metropolitan, Milnerton, Mowbray, Rondebosch, Royal Cape, Steenberg and Westlake. A further nine clubs are reachable within the hour: Atlantic Beach, Boschenmeer, Erinvale, Pearl Valley, Somerset West, Spier, Stellenbosch and Strand. There are four more golf courses within the Western Cape Province; Arabella, Hermanus, Langebaan and Worcester, but those can only realistically be enjoyed as part of an entire day trip outing. Some recommended outings: Cape Point Nature Reserve, Table Mountain cable car (only 4 kms away) and the famous Stellenbosch and Paarl wine routes.

We had a great time. Pity about all the load shedding, as overseas visitors do not understand at the price range that there is no solar at least for fridge and a few lights.

This is a nice space with an up-to-date kitchen and a large common area in a safe location, with an amazing view. The property manager is great and quickly addressed any issues we had. There are 52 steps from the street to the front door, so this property is not for those with mobility problems. There are a few items in need of repair: a number of lightbulbs were out, 2 of the 3 lanterns (for use during load-shedding) did not work, a toilet and a showerhead both leaked). We prefer our privacy and did not mention these to the manager. Also, there is no dryer as mentioned in the list of amenities....our clothes dried pretty quickly outside, but it requires some planning and nice weather. We still recommend the villa...it just needs some maintenance.

This was a great property, the views were amazing and the location was fabulous. The pool area was beautiful and very relaxing. The neighborhood was safe and quiet.
I agree with a former review that one bedroom clearly outshines the other, the "king" bedroom can get a bit stuffy, especially when load shedding cuts power during the night. It also was unfortunate that you have to close all windows and doors at night so no ocean breezes to lull you to sleep. Also, with steep stairs and open railings, the house isn't suited to anyone with mobility issues or young children. Some linens and chairs are showing some wear as well, but for the price in this location, you can't really ask for a better house.

We enjoyed our stay. The view was beautiful and we had no problem grabbing Uber to get to the sights.

Good location with stunning views. The stay should have been the icing on a good vacation. However the premises were only superficially cleaned. We had to wash the sheets, pillow cases and pillow covers in the one room because they were so discolored and smelled. The shower head in one of the showers fell off; the toaster was filthy, the dishwasher filter was greasy and had bits of food still in it. The pool was dirty. The BBQ was dirty . We had to ask for all these to be cleaned. We never did get to use the pool during our stay. What a shame that poor maintenance and bad housekeeping ruined our stay. We almost moved out the evening we arrived. I cannot recommend this rental.

Outstanding respite from COvid
We came to Cape Town to spend a month away from the US during COVID. And Sun Lion Villa was absolutely the perfect place. The house is in a great location and Anthony is so easy to work with. In fact, we extended our stay by a couple of weeks and Anthony was so gracious. The house also has a housekeeper and gardener, Clara and Shadrock, who were incredibly helpful. Being that we are not from South Africa, there were many things we did not know how to do, and they were always there to provide advice and a helping hand. We're sorry we had to leave, but we will be back. Thank you!!

Camps Bay is a quiet area yet easy enough to Uber around. Beautiful view of the ocean and Table Mountain.

Great location
Ideal for Family with two Kids.
A large private deck is accessed from the lounge. The deck has wonderful sea, sunset and mountain view and has a retractable awning for shady lunches.. There is a six seater dining table for al fresco eating as well as sun loungers for tanning. There is a weber barbecue on the deck.

The views from the bedroom, balcony, and living room are spectacular. We are a family of 4 and were visiting our daughter studying in CT. This was a perfect setting and the apartment was ideal for Lions Head, Table Mountain, gobsmackingingly beautiful sunset photos, and downtown CT. Anthony made communication seamless. Well stocked kitchen (and balcony grill) enabled us to entertain 10 of my daughter's friends (also studying abroad) who had not had a homecooked meal in 3 months. If returning to CT, will stay here - no question. Thanks.

Sun lion villa is a great place to stay. Our family enjoyed the home & wonderful views. The owner is very helpful with detail packet of info. We also took advantage of the shopping service for groceries when we arrived. A quick uber ride to camps bay beach & downtown.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
We are South African's living overseas. This time we brought friends with us and of course I wanted to impress them. Well the views from the house are spectacular, my guests were completely blown away. We ate our breakfasts on the deck every morning, lay at the pool every other day, and then walked down to the main road for dinner if we were not cooking ourselves. The house is well equipped with everything you need, especially if you are cooking yourselves. Great security and helpful staff. It's very easy to get an Uber within a couple of minutes. Also a quick Uber ride to more restaurants in the City. You are very close to Table Mountain Cable car, or hiking routes if you prefer. Our host Anthony was most helpful with details and assistance on any question I put to him. We had a wonderful time.

A picture is worth a thousand words
The view you get from the Sun Lion Villa is worth the five stars. The ocean and Lion's Head is a dramatic view. Table Mountain is right behind you. The villa is comfortable, clean, and well-appointed. Anthony, the host, was responsive and informative. The housekeeper, Clarah, was very nice. The proximity to the main street in Camps Bay was an easy five minute drive. It is in a safe location and we love every minute of our stay.

What a view!
We had a wonderful two week stay in Cape Town. This was a far better option than the hotel on our last trip to Cape Town. The house was very comfortable and is focused around the magnificent view. The grocery store and supplies (Except alcohol) are a five minute Uber write down the hill. We made 41 Victoria St. our local restaurant although the Hussar Grill, just down the hill was really good also. Plentiful Ubers made getting around a snap. Thank you Anthony and your helpers for making our stay so memorable! One suggestion: install a solar heater for the pool - it would have been wonderful to be able to use the pool even though it was late winter in South Africa we still had some warm days. Overall, a GREAT stay!

Beautiful house and location!
Very easy to access house with such an amazing view. We arrived very late but the caretakers were ready for us. Absolutely stunning views from balcony and bedroom. Very very safe area and we never once worried about our security. Camps bay is just a couple dollar Uber ride from the house. House was extremely clean and laid out exactly as described. If you are looking for a house in the Cape Town area, this is the one to rent!

Best experience in Sun Lion Villa
Sun Lion Villa is a well kept property in an ideal location - very scenic. Camps Bay, beach, Table Mountain and Waterfront are only a short drive away. The house in in a very safe neighborhood and the caretakers have an an eye on it when you are out.

Beautiful home and even better views!
Couldn't have been happier with our accommodation at the sun lion villa! The views speak for themselves! The architecture of the house is very unique and there is plenty of space for entertaining and all the amenities you will need. Anthony was an excellent host; very responsive and informative. Would definitely stay here again if/when I'm back to visit Cape Town!

we very much enjoyd those 17 days in this wonderfull house with a superb balcony and a great pool!!
Everything was super and if it goes we would rent this place again.
The only thing what I thougt should be better communicated is when we left on Friday 17th March. I did not see the mail Anthony sent to me telling me that we have to leave in the morning already since the house has been booked by new guests, I fully respect this - no problem - but since I did not see that mail, I phoned Bernadette on Monday 13th March. She then told me about the new situation. I then asked her if we could still use the pool and shower till 14.00h where she said thats no problem. Good, I thought. However the lady who was cleaning the house told as on 16th March that she will start cleaning the next morning (17th) at 8 a.m. already. Then I called Bernadette again and told her, sorry but this is too early. We can leave the house by 9 a.m - so thats still one hour earlier than the rules show. I understood that bernadette still said we can still use pool and shower till 14.00h. Maybe this was a missunderstanding. Anyway we finally left 9 a.m. but Bernadette said that she is not comming so early but only at 14.00h. I thought she would want to go with us through the hose and check if everyting was OK. She said there is no need to do that. So I told her the two minor things which were broken already when we came - thats the wheel of the gas grill which was broken plus a lounge at the pool. I just wanted to make sure, that I would not get charged for this. She said that I should not worry about.
Again - everything else was just great - we really liked this place.

Great stay
A perfect holiday home with breathtaking views, the house was comfortable and provided everything we required. Only criticism were the couple if wonky chairs by the pool which meant that only two of our party of 4 could enjoy sunbathing at a time. Easily put right I'm sure. We very much hope to return.

Beautiful Camps Bay
Two of us spent a luxurious week at Sun Lion Villa. It is very well equipped and exactly what we expected from the web site. Welcome included 2 bottles of wine. The Villa could easily have accomodated four people. Everything worked! It is quite a lot of steps to climb up from the parking in the road, but the view is fantastic once you get there.

Schönes Haus mit exzellentem Blick
Das für 4 Personen ausreichend große Haus ist sehr gut gelegen oberhalb der Bucht von Camps Bay. Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten von Kapstadt sind gut und schnell erreichbar. Sehr freundlicher Empfang und eine kompetente Betreuung vor Ort. Sensationeller Blich aus dem Master Bedroom und von der wunderschönen Terrasse. Das Haus ist zwar schon etwas älter, die Bäder aber neuwertig renoviert. Insgesamt vermittelt das Haus einen freundlichen und gepflegten Eindruck. Der kleine Garten mit dem Pool lädt zum Sonnenbaden und relaxen ein. Die Küche ist modern und sehr gut ausgestattet.
Wir kommen sicher wieder.....

Villa mit Traumausblick
Wir haben in der Sun Lion Villa zu viert zwei Wochen verbracht und haben uns einfach nur sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Lage ist absolut TOP. Der Blick von der Terrasse einfach nur Urlaub pur! Die Villa selbst wurde vor unserer Ankunft teil-saniert. Die Bäder waren komplett neu. Die Hausübergabe am Ankunfts- bzw. Abreisetag ging ohne Probleme über die Bühne. Kurz um - sehr empfehlenswert!!! Eiegntlich könnte jetzt der Urlaub erneut beginnen :-)

Perfect plase to stay
We recieved a very warm welcome from the owner Anthony. While trinking a glas of wine he shared a lot of interesting things to do and where to go. We loved the wonderful house with it gorgeous view. It is well siuated to reach all the interesting places around Cape Town.
We were able to enjoy the unbelievable sun sets nearly every evening on the terasse. The house an it's surroundings was very clean and well maintained. The interior decoration was very tastful and left no wishes open.
We can recommend Sun Lion with no limitation and would stay at this lovely place at all times.

Sun Lion Villa - Perfect 5 star location!
After a long and tiring search through various web sites we decided upon Sun Lion Villa. It was within a few seconds of our arrival at the property that we knew all the effort had been worth it. The moment you step inside the villa you know you have made the right decision. And if your not convinced just open up the doors onto the veranda and take in the staggering view out to the Atlantic and the surrounding mountain, simply stunning.
The villa offers a very comfortable stay with good sized bedrooms and even an on-suite in the master bedroom which comes in very handy. The bed in the master bedroom elevated to maximise the beautiful view out the Atlantic ocean, the perfect view to wake up to each morning.
The outside area provides more than adequate space to sit back and relax after a day out visiting the sights. It was so perfect that we found ourselves staying in each evening with a Braai and the sound of the ocean in the background. We have never felt so relaxed. The property is set in a very quiet street so there are no disturbances to spoil your evenings.
A few of the previous reviews complained about the stairs leading to the property but don't let this put you off. Yes it makes bringing your suitcase up to the villa a little hard work but you only have to do this once and when you see the view from the top it makes it all worth while.
I would highly recommend the villa to anyone looking for a clean, spacious and well maintained property to use as a base for exploring this wonderful part of South Africa and wouldn't hesitate to book another stay next time I'm in Cape Town
