Our vacation rental "Am Schneidersberg" is a bright apartment on the mezzanine level of an older country house in Schmittlotheim.
It features a separate entrance, a kitchen-dining area that opens onto the living/sleeping area, a separate bedroom, a bathroom, a south-facing balcony, and free Wi-Fi.
An outdoor staircase leads directly from the balcony into the approximately 500 m² garden with mature trees.
The house is located in the town center in a still-natural, village-like setting with a farm nearby. In the village, the village bell still rings at 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., tractors hum, and occasionally you can even catch a whiff of the “countryside.” Here you’ll find a village life that remains largely intact and authentic.
Thanks to the wooded surroundings, the large garden, and the amenities, the vacation rental is particularly well-suited for nature lovers and families.

Relaxation, leisure, or fun:
You’ll find peace and relaxation in the seating areas and/or on the lounge chairs in the garden, shaded by old fruit trees. If you’d like, feel free to use our charcoal grill.

Go hiking in the national park, designated an UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, with its beech forests (you can reach ¾ of the national park’s attractions directly from Schmittlotheim), and explore sections of the “Urwaldsteig” or the “Kellerwaldsteig,” which passes right by the village. Enjoy magnificent views of Lake Eder, and with a little luck, you might spot deer. For those interested, the National Park Administration offers guided tours and information (many of which are free); the National Park Information Center is just 3 km away.
Nordic walking enthusiasts will find many scenic routes in the surrounding area, and we lend our own poles to “beginners.”

You can swim in the nearby Edersee or in the swimming lake at “Ferienpark Teichmann,” 3 km away, as well as in the natural swimming cove on the Eder River right by Schmittlotheim, about 700 m from the house. Lawn areas for sunbathing, a barbecue area, a soccer field, and a beach volleyball court—along with water depths that are generally sufficient even for swimmers—round out the amenities at this otherwise unspoiled natural swimming spot on the Eder River.

You can enjoy challenging bike rides through the forests of the nature park or more leisurely family bike rides in the Eder Valley or around the fjord-like Lake Eder.
Bicycles are available free of charge to our guests, and bicycles you bring with you can be stored in the bike storage room.

Conveniently located, easy to get around even without a car:
Thanks to the B252 federal highway running through the town, the Schmittlotheim train station, and the town’s connection to the public “on-call shared taxi system” (ASt), the town is easily accessible by public transportation and ideally suited for excursions in the region.
You can get around here even without a car, as Schmittlotheim is a central hub in the “ASt system.”

Our offerings for a vacation with children
Children can play freely on the fenced-in playground adjacent to the garden and even play soccer.
We have a “kids’ fleet” consisting of a Bobby Car, a tricycle, two children’s bicycles, one child bike seat, and other play equipment (e.g., soccer goal, badminton net/rackets, bocce balls, and a wading pool), as well as a selection of board games for adults and children for rainy days or in the evenings. Please ask if you’re interested.
