About this cabin rental
Blue Sea Bungalow (near Roche Harbor) is a great place to make some San Juan memories! This cozy home was built in 2015 and is comfortably furnished with a nautical/beach motif throughout. The kitchen and dining room provide enough space for everyone to gather comfortably around the table, or prepare meals together. The kitchen is fully-equipped with stainless steel appliances and plenty of dishes, cookware, and spices. The downstairs Primary Suite has a Queen-sized bed and is connected to a continental bathroom. The 2nd bedroom is upstairs with a view of Westcott Bay and a full-sized bed with a Memory Foam mattress. The 3/4 bathroom is upstairs as well. The living room's comfortable futon couch converts into a bed. Enjoy an evening movie on the new 40" TV in the living room with access to Netflix and other streaming services. Blue Sea Bungalow offers a large yard full of fun as well! Fire up the BBQ, pull up a chair and relax around the firepit (seasonally permitted and firewood is not provided). Enjoy a game of horseshoes, “corn hole”, or croquet in the back yard. This open space and rural setting are perfect for star gazing while sitting with friends around the camp fire. The Westcott Bay Oyster Farm is just at the end of the neighborhood. A connector trail to English Camp and Mount Young is also at the end of the street near the farm and lagoon. It's a short 1.5 miles to Roche Harbor, where you can rent kayaks, SUP's, etc. and check out the beautiful garden and historical sights. There's a nearby private community access to Westcott Bay, which is down a short nature trail (BE CAREFUL TO WATCH FOR STICKERS AND UNEVEN FOOTING) and then an easy scramble down the bank. The beach space is limited, but it still offers a great place to sit and watch for seabirds, otters, harbor seals, and much more wildlife that resides on San Juan Island. This home is not suitable for parties or excessively loud groups. Due to the large lawn and proximity to the water, sound carries easily through this neighborhood. THIS PROPERTY DOES NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING. FANS ARE PROVIDED. FIRE PITS ARE NOT USABLE FROM MAY 1ST-SEPTEMBER 30TH DUE TO COUNTY BURN BAN AND SAFETY OF PROPERTY AND NEIGHBORING AREAS. BAN IS USUALLY LIFTED OCTOBER 1ST IF/WHEN CONDITIONS AND WEATHER ARE FAVORABLE. APPROXIMATELY A 15 MINUTE DRIVE TO THE FRIDAY HARBOR FERRY TERMINAL. THE INTERNET / WI-FI AT THIS HOUSE SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT FOR STREAMING VIDEO, PHONE CALLS, REMOTE WORK AND VIDEO CONFERENCING. We have been coming to San Juan Islands since 2015. We love it here and we loved this house. It was very clean and has everything needed. I would definitely recommend staying here.

A place to chill before family wedding

One of the best vacation rentals I’ve stayed at. Deer and foxes in the yard every night. Best stocked rental I’ve ever been in. Great location,5 min drive to Roche. Could walk down to Wescott Bay. Quiet neighborhood. Had three young kids, we all loved it. Only thing is that the futon doesn’t lay flat, it’s like a recliner type futon, which wasn’t ideal. Wish they’d switch that out.

Our group of four was joining another couple on a boat in Roche Harbor, this was an easy commute to Roche and was a perfect place to stay. Loved seeing all the wildlife! So many birds, deer, and even a fox!

The blue sea bungalow was just the right size for grandparents to vacation with their daughter, son-in-law, and young grandson. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed. WiFi worked fine. Location was good. We enjoyed having the beach toys but some of the other outdoor games needed replacement parts. We even saw an eagle, deer, and a fox fromThe house!

Advertisement looks like you could walk to anything…wrong, need a car. Beach house was cute and well supplied. Wished Lawn had been mowed and ground floor bathroom sink was a slow drain.

We traveled to Roche Harbor for a wedding, and this was the perfect house to stay in. It was close to the resort but far enough away to feel private and quiet. The house was clean with plenty of space for our group. We enjoyed spending time out in the backyard in the evening, and we saw a family of deer come by each morning. We would definitely recommend staying here!

Cannot be outside of the home, or in the yard.
We had the local police show up at 8:15 pm, saying they had received a noise complaint, the officer said he could not hear us from the driveway! he was very sorry, but just be warned you cannot go outside of the house.

Mixed.
Cute house. Lawn hadn’t been mowed in some time. Had to work for the water view. You take your life in your hands for the “beach” access. Definitely wouldn’t recommend for anyone with ANY limited mobility or risk of injury. Only had K-cup machine for coffee. Cups were provided but if you like a strong cup of Java, bring you own. Would have sworn listing said 2 queens. Only 1 and a full. Location was close to Roche Harbor and the Oyster Company. Lots of wildlife roaming through the yard. Beautiful. Enjoyed the stay but wouldn’t rent again.

Pleasant cabin in a natural setting
The house was a comfortable and enjoyable vacation property. We had a lot of rain, so we were unable to enjoy the outdoors area much, but the patio and fire pit looked like they would be quite enjoyable.

Ants in the kitchen!!! Something we would have greatly appreciated knowing before we booked at almost $1000 for 2 nights after fees and taxes. When we got there the first evening and started making dinner they came out in a vengeance! I killed all that I saw, but my kids were super grossed out and a couple of them wouldn't eat their dinner. We kept all our food out in the car because we were freaked out about it. I felt like bugs were crawling on me all night while I slept too! I Googled ant traps and when I saw pictures of what they looked like, I realized there were already 3 traps sitting on the kitchen counter and in the kitchen window sill. So it was obviously a problem they already knew about. When we called the property manager, his was apologetic and came out the next day at noon and placed more ant traps in the kitchen. He sent a text with fingers crossed and said he hoped that would take care of it. After coming back to the house that evening we started making dinner and the ants came back!! I killed almost another 30-40 that evening! When we told the property manager about it, he said I guess we will have to call an exterminator. We really would have appreciated that call to have the ant problem taken care of before we spent that much money or at least knowing before hand that they were having the issue so that we could have made the desicion of whether or not we still wanted to stay there when they were having bug issues!!!

ANTS!!!

Stayed during the winter freeze that followed Christmas 2021. Despite temperatures in the teens, the house stayed warm. Used the woodfire stove, but mostly just for aesthetics--electric heat was more than adequate. Property manager very accommodating. Reviews we read before were very accurate--this is a very good vacation rental.

Blue Sea Bungalow is a very well appointed abode. Internet was adequate for any technical needs. Everything we did was reasonably close by, it is an island after all, but even the drives were a pleasant distraction. We used the discount coupons provided by San Juan Property management, would definitely recommend.

This was the 2nd year in a row we stayed at this cute cottage for our daughter's wedding weekend at the Oyster farm down the road (2020 canceled, 2021 success!). Its a sweet little place and we appreciate the fans in the upstairs bedroom. Lots of wildlife visit the yard. There were a few things that came back to us from our previous stay - the kitchen floor seems permanently sticky, the lighting in the living room isn't great (one of the outlets where the internet router is plugged in doesn't work so you cannot plug in the lamp located there). This year someone had clearly been smoking (a lot) in the downstairs bathroom and therefore that room, the hallway and laundry area right off the dining area smelled strongly like cigarettes. I bought Lysol to spray around the bathroom but it could not overcome the smell which made us all gag. Disappointing as this bathroom is the only one with counter space and we had to get ready for a wedding there.
We tried to use the toaster but having it, the Keureg and the fridge on one circuit blew the power. The property management company was very helpful to get that resolved.

What a lovely spot with deer, dragon flies, Eagles, Hummingbirds! A great clean spot with a nice yard and convenient to Roach and Friday Harbor. We all enjoyed it very much!

I don't know if you could ask for much more. The management team made the administrative side of the trip quite easy - seamless in fact - including reworking a delayed trip due to COVID last year.
My daughter and I stayed in the Blue Bungalow and thought it had plenty of space, it was remarkably clean, and the location was great for us. Westscott Bay across the street, very close to the West side of the island which made trips to the coast, parks, tide pools, really quick and easy. Downtown is a quick 15 minutes away and the road in is gorgeous. Well, to be fair, all the roads are gorgeous drives. The kitchen is well stocked and we never once said anything like, "I wish there was a ..... " Deer visited the yard every morning and one day I was having coffee on the front porch and a doe just munched her way through the front yard in front of me. Bald eagles soared overhead another morning, calling back and forth to each other. I'd stay at the Blue Bungalow again in a heartbeat.
We really enjoyed eating at Downriggers, who my daughter says has the best french fries she's ever had), Friday Crab House, and the Rocky Bay Cafe. Coffee at the Salty Fox is top notch. We really enjoyed meeting local artists and farmers at the Saturday farmer's market. We did 3 whale watching tours, one sea kayaking trip, all with the discounts provided by the management company. They were all fantastic and we saw many whales and other wildlife on our excursions.
