About this house rental
Located in Tybee Island, this attractive house for £692 per night is a great option for your next vacation. The property is three stories high with five bedrooms, four full bathrooms, two lounge rooms, two kitchens, a sizeable balcony, a brand new plunge pool, and garage parking. (Climbing stairs is required.) The main level, reached by a full flight of stairs, opens to a small kitchen, breakfast nook, lounge area with balcony and separate laundry. This smaller kitchen is perfect for making a quick bite or grabbing your morning coffee. The lounge area has a small sectional with a 42” TV. Three of the bedrooms are located on the main floor as well as two full baths. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds with nightstands and closets. The third bedroom on the main level has two sets of built-in bunk beds (four single beds). There is a small tv located in this room with a large selection of kids movies. Moving up another flight of stairs, you will find the second larger kitchen with attached lounging area and the larger of the two balconies. The larger kitchen is equipped with a double oven, a warming drawer, dishwasher and six burner stove. The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, dishes and utensils for larger meals. The adjoining lounge area has a 55" HD LCD TV with cable and plenty of seating for everyone. The balcony off this area is where you will find yourself more often than not, it has ample seating and overlooks 11th street and the beach entrance. You'll be able to enjoy the ocean air and see all the comings-and-goings without leaving the property. The master suite with an ocean view is located off the lounge area on the top floor and includes a private en-suite bathroom with Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The master includes a king bed, walk-in closet and futon couch for extra guests. The ground floor or pool level has an additional queen bedroom (5th bedroom) with attached (4th) full bathroom. This bedroom is heated and cooled by a window unit only. This room has private access by key and you must go outside and up the full flight of stairs to get into the main house. This is a good spot for extra family or friends visiting for a night or two during your trip. The property is outfitted with all the amenities you'd expect to find in a family home. On the ground floor there are four driveway parking spaces. The garage itself is stocked with tents, chairs, two bicycles and miscellaneous toys for the kids. The specific options change often as you would see in your own home. Rent the on-site golf cart for your stay for $100 per day (rentable days are 10 am to 10 am). Proximity to the beach was fantastic! Spacious upper floor for our group of 9 was great for gathering and socializing. Plenty of bathroom and beach towels. Plastic dining chairs were unstable and most were missing one screw. Carried up wooden chairs from middle floor to use instead. There were a few practical kitchen things missing: no pot holders and only one kitchen towel so we used bathroom handtowels; kitchen lacked measuring spoons and cups which was difficult because we were there over Thanksgiving. Good stay, but a few simple improvements that would have made it even better.

We loved our stay at the property. You are a few steps to the 11th street beach entrance which makes getting to the beach so easy. This is also one of my favorite streets on Tybee; you’re far enough from the pier for it to feel relaxed but close enough to walk places. I was also very surprised by the size of the pool. In the pictures it appears tiny but we we’re able to comfortably fit 10 people in the pool. We probably enjoyed the beach and pool equally on the trip. The beds were very comfortable and I thought the kids bunk bed room was very cute. There’s some wear and tear on the property which should be addressed( floors need redoing and bathrooms could use some updating; lounger needed to be fixed). The upstairs has been updated and had a great sized table for us to enjoy dinner together. We loved have 2 spaces for the adults and the kids to hang out in. I’d definitely recommend this spot for groups (we had 6 kids and 6 adults). I also appreciate the communication throughout the trip - the management company was responsive and very helpful. Thank you for making this a wonderful vacation for our family and friends!

I loved this property. The proximity to the beach made a huge difference in how often we went down there, and it was really nice to swim and cool off in the pool. It was also convenient to the IGA and Tybrisa St. It was very roomy and clean.
My only suggestions would be some nightlights and smoke detectors. But we very much enjoyed our stay. Hope to be back.

Absolutely fantastic stay! The location is perfect and the company was very attentive! We had everything we needed and lots of beach supplies were available for use! The only issue was parking and our inability to use the garage initially because the golf cart vehicle blocked the entrance. They moved it promptly and promised to cover any associated tickets because of having to park off property.

We had a very good experience staying at Hogan's Retreat. The house was very spacious and perfect for our family. We were just a short walk to the beach and the pool was great for the kids. There were a few things that need some attention like a broken drawer in the master bath, broken lounges by the pool and light switches that need labeled, but overall it was great. I realize they can't put a lot of detail in the description so I'll put some things here to help people know what to pack. The coffee maker is drip, not keurig, bring hot pads, there is one 9x13 and a few cookie sheets, there are nice pans, but no stock pot, no small spoons, which was only a problem for our 3 yr old. Also the golf cart is parked so that you can't use the garage for parking. We asked that it be moved and never heard back. It really didn't end up being a problem, but if you have more than 3 cars, it would be. All in all this was one of the best equipped VBRO's that we have stayed at. Thanks so much!

Annual family vacation was great! We loved the house and the location. The house was a little dated, but plenty big and very clean! We had some problems with a breaker tripping the first day, and the property management company responded immediately and sent someone right over!

Ideal location with plenty of parking. House is a perfect multi-generational set up with two distinct living areas. Pool is a big hit. Property management group was great to work with. Extremely responsive and pleasant!! We have already rented it again for next year.
A couple of notes: house does not provide a blender. Also the stairs can become quite steep for older people.

Pros: Location great. Very close to restaurants, beach, and anywhere you want to go walking. The pool is very nice and we enjoyed it, except sadly on the last day, the pool company treated with chemicals rendering it useless until after 7:00pm. Cons: Basement/ detached room issues-not advertised well. Puddle in front of garage bedroom the entirety of our stay. Breaker tripped multiple times over the course of the week. There was no reason for this to have happened so many times other than that room is pulling too much power for that breaker. Lighting was poor (no light over the sink). Vent fan/light in bathroom did not work. Lacking furniture/anywhere to hang clothing. Dehumidifier was very noisy with an alarm that sounded when full, waking us up in the middle of the night multiple times. Window a/c unit in the only window of that bedroom made it very dark. Overhead light full of dead bugs. Pool issues: Broken pool lounger and bench. Main part of house:
In general, the entire house was dated and run down, including floors, most furniture, cabinetry missing knobs or damaged, light bulbs out, some outlets didn’t work, double oven didn’t work, noisy ceiling fans, and poor lighting. Reported several things on day 2 only to get a “thank you for bringing to our attention.” Would not stay here again at this price.

The posting did not disclose that the 5th bedroom and 4th bathroom were detached from the rest of the house and you had to go outside. Very inconvenient. Also no mention was given that the double oven did not work and the property manager was aware. The lighting in the master bathroom was poor with one light out completely. Two pieces of the outside furniture were broken causing 2 of our party to fall backwards when they sat in one of them.

Property needs a major freshen up, even by beach house standards. Other reviews are correct, the downstairs bedroom is very musty smelling. It has a bathroom, so it is convenient to the pool. It is located in the garage. Heavy rains caused a large puddle in the garage, which had to be waded through to access that bedroom. Also, be aware of the amount and steepness of the stairs. That's not on the property owner, I should have looked at the photos more closely. But there is a long flight up from ground level to the front door, then another long flight up to the top floor common area and master. Just something to be aware of, if you get short of breath or have bad joints.

This is a lovely house, very clean, great layout for large groups. Plenty of comfortable seating. The big kitchen and large family room are on the top floor so there are a lot of steps. I have bad knees so that was a bit of an inconvenience but it wasn’t an issue for any of the others. The pool got a lot of use. Plenty of parking. No golf carts allowed on the street. If you rent one you have to park it a good distance from the house. I’d definitely go back.

The rooms are spacious and had plenty of room for cooking Christmas dinner. It was nice to be able to spread out and have space. The basement room was a little chili and is separate from the rest of the house but it gave my parents privacy.

This is a wonderful house, steps from the beach on a quiet dead-end road, close to the local grocery shop (the IGA), with parking for at least 4 cars. However, the automatic garage opener was not working, so we only had 3 spaces on the drive. This was enough for us, though. We were three families (6 adults, 6 kids). There is one big master bedroom on the top (2nd floor) where the main kitchen and living room is located, as well as a balcony from where you can see the sea and sunrise / partial sunset. The first floor has two bedrooms with double beds, one kids betdroom with two double beds (sleep 2 each) and a fold out futon bed (which didn't have linen), two bathrooms, a laundry and a small sitting area that the kids used. The upper bunkbeds don't have safety rails, so really young kids can't use them. The pool is on the ground floor with a separate gate that is hard for kids to open (good). It's lovely - just right for kids after a hot day at the beach. Good temperature when the heat finally warmed it up on day 2. Lots of beach toys, chairs and carts to move them back and forth to the beach. Bring your own sun shade for the beach, though. Sadly, the bikes were broken (not just flat tires - I did bring a pump myself, but they were too far gone). Not a huge deal, but again, if you advertise bikes, make sure they aren't total write-offs. On the whole though, this was a fantastic house. We loved our week there.
The only negative thing I'd say about the place is that they advertise one of the rooms as being on the ground floor with private pool access. This is technically true, but it has no access to the rest of the house and seems to be a shed at the back of the under-house flood space that is dark and dank (with a dehumidifier running all the time).
I felt this was somewhat misleading. We did not use this room as it would have meant one couple would have to be in a separate apartment cut off from the rest of us, and from their kids, and was definitely the *short straw*. Instead, all four from one family slept in top floor room, which had a futon. It wasn't ideal, but was better than being separated - we were there to be together. There were no spare sheets for the futon and when I rang the management company, they said they do not use the futon as a bed. I managed to persuade them to provide bedding for it in the end, though. The management company were very responsive but not overbearing. Very nice balance.

The house was perfect for families with children. The pool was a great addition to the off season visit. It was heated well and we were able to enjoy even with temperatures in the 50’s! The location is very close to the beach and a very short walk to the store. We look forward to coming again in the future.

Hogan's Retreat was just what the doctor ordered for a little R&R, Off-Season in the South. A hop, skip and a jump to the Dunes Walkway leading to the sandy beaches of Tybee Island, this home offered our Family everything we need to enjoy our extended weekend visit. Three floors of living and sleeping space allowed us all to be together or apart if desired. The heated pool was the cherry on top of our weekend Sundae.
A short 20 minute ride had us in the heart of Old Savannah, enjoying the charm and appeal of the Riverwalk area with its shops and restaurants aplenty.
We hope to return In-season and get to enjoy the full benefits of Tybee Island and its beautiful beaches.

Only hick-up with the door code but a simple call got that sorted right away. The place is in an AMAZING location to the beach, had plenty of parking, included lots of toys for the kids, the heated pool was as lovely as it sounds. Some of the fixings around the house need a little TLC or replacement but other than that it was absolutely epic to be so close the beach with only a short ~100ft walk door to water. Cant wait to go back to the beach!

We loved our stay here in Tybee Island. The house is just as pictured. The beach access is very close. Management is just a phone call away if you need them. The new plunge pool is excellent to have after a day at the beach.

Great value for the money
The price was worth it, however, the furniture has gotta go. This stuff is simply old, possible mid 70s and certainly 80s. The place has great potential, and great location near to a beach, but how long can they drag out the old creaky furniture?

Awesome location
GREAT LOCATION!!!!! just steps to the beach. Some of the appliances didn’t work very well and it needs a little tlc, but as with any home, that comes with age. Lots of beach toys, bikes, umbrellas, etc. and a great place for multiples. One thing I do want to mention, tho, is that the listing said 2 king beds plus others. When we got there, the extra space with a king bed was locked and the housekeeper informed is the key had been lost. We found the keys, but nonetheless, we would have been very unhappy with one less bedroom considering the size of our group. Otherwise, decent place, clean, but a FANTASTIC. location.
