Tranquil waterfront near Rockland, Camden- dog friendly with AC
About this house rental
Situated in South Thomaston, this attractive house for £519 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Please note- we offer a FULL RENT REFUND for cancellations IF we can re-book your time slot (this is separate from VRBO policy). A perfect spot for family gatherings, this light-filled house is right on the shore of a tidal salt-water river with access via your own dock in the summer. We are on a quiet, dead end road, but only minutes from the best of mid-coast Maine. Great area for biking, birding, kayaking and hiking and exploring. The house is also an excellent spot for remote work, complete with high speed Wifi and desks. For those occasional hot days, we do have AC if you need it. Hayden Point is an immaculate and comfortable house situated on its own private waterfront with steps and a floating dock (in warm months) for direct access. From our dock, you can paddle down a peaceful river to the Gulf of Maine. Large windows give unobstructed views of the water from most rooms and there is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. Hayden Point is a relaxing retreat that makes access easy for anyone with limited mobility. Our large deck overlooks the lawn and water. The kitchen contains everything you need to cook a gourmet meal, but you also can get some of the best lobster in Maine 5 minutes away, and you are only five miles from downtown Rockland. Camden Hills State Park is a short distance as well. This spacious craftsman style home built in 2004 has 2.5 baths and sleeps 8 adults in three bedrooms (children are welcome, too!). Everything is on the ground floor except the third bedroom and bath. On the ground floor, a private master suite with water views has a king-size bed and sitting area, a large bathroom with a custom walk in shower, and two vanities (one within the bathroom and one in the hallway to the bath). A second bedroom on the ground floor has a queen-sized bed and small sitting area, and a nearby half bath. Upstairs there is a second full bath off a very large bedroom with a big sitting area, games table and 180 degree spectacular water views. The king-sized bed in this room can be separated into two extra-long twin beds and there also is a queen sleeper sofa. A portable crib is provided as well. The house has a great deal of closet space and drawers for storage. All linens are provided and are 100% cotton. A washer and dryer on the ground level provided as well. The ground floor has the main living space with an open dining room, which seats 6-8 people, and living room overlooking the lawn and the water beyond. The kitchen is fully-equipped with solid-surface counter tops, cherry cabinetry, an electric oven, gas cook-top, dishwasher, trash-compactor, microwave, double-door refrigerator and dishwasher and a walk-in pantry. The kitchen has a breakfast nook and double French doors leading to the wraparound deck. The deck has a sun shade, table, plenty of seating and two grills. The living room and den area is outfitted with comfortable and stylish furnishings, flat-screen television, Roku and fire stick for streaming, and high speed Wifi for internet access. In addition to heat pumps for air conditioning, there is a whole-house back-up generator, so no need to worry about power loss. Large windows overlook the deck and the expansive lawn and waterfront. Novels, local guide books and maps are also included. South Thomaston is located just five miles from downtown Rockland, 15 miles from Camden/Rockport and five miles from the St. George Peninsula and the villages of Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde. Hayden Point is less than 10 minutes from Primo, one of the best restaurants in New England. There is also a boat launch open for public use about one half mile from the Hayden Point House, and beautiful Birch Point state park with a beach about five minutes away. We have a professional caretaker on call during your stay should any problem arise. Dogs are allowed with owner permission and additional pet fee.

This is an exceptionally nice house with a beautiful view. The neighborhood is very quiet and lovely and very conveniently located. The first floor has master bedroom with a king bed and a bathroom with a walk-in shower, as well as a tub and a second sink in the hall. There is a queen bedroom on this floor also with a powder room next to it. Upstairs is a lovely large room with two twin beds, a bathroom and a seating area. The kitchen and dining room are open and spacious; and the deck is lovely, overlooking the river.
Some improvements are needed: a Keurig coffee pot, a new mattress on the master bedroom bed, a more comfortable lounge chair in the living room, and either a modified front set of steps or a railing added to the entrance, or both. This house could be perfect for those with some mobility impairments if the front entrance was improved. If you have no impairments, then no problem with the entrance.

The property is in a quiet rural area and also close to restaurants and interesting sites. Enjoyed hiking and museums close by and returning to this serene place. Particularly enjoyed watching the river having two tides! How do the fish know when the water is leaving the river bed?!

This Hayden Point home is of the highest quality we’ve experienced when renting vacation places. Great floor plan for both privacy and group gathering. Kitchen stocked as you would your own home, comfortable and flexible sleeping arrangements, plenty of good bedding and towels for a large family. The diverse artwork alone is worth the rental! Location is great for accessing mid-coast shopping, museums, beaches. The owner is easy to communicate with and goes beyond typical expectations to make your stay special. Every member of our party (ages 4-80) considered our time at Hayden Point to be exceptional. We would definitely return and offer our highest unqualified recommendation to anyone seeking a mid-coast visit.

We loved the convenient location on a quiet and friendly street. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed, and had plenty of space for our family of 5 plus dog to spread out and relax. It was clean, comfortable, and very nicely decorated. We appreciated the fully stocked and spotless kitchen, large bed in the primary bedroom, and all the little extras, like puzzles and games, that helped pass the time when we encountered a few rainy days.

Location-wise, the house couldn't be topped. Centrally located to every place that we wanted to visit. Kay was also very accomodating when our party unexpectedly grew, Overall, a great location!

This home is the best of all worlds, peaceful setting, friendly neighborhood, convenient to Rockland, Camden, and Rockport. We appreciated Kay’s recommendations for local attractions, her attentiveness, and the well appointed kitchen that allowed us to prepare a Thanksgiving feast. Hope we can visit again soon!

Our stay at this beautiful property could not have been better. The house is lovely and well appointed. The owners were responsive, kind and wonderful. The location is an Autumn wonderland. The accommodations were perfect for folks with mobility issues. The bedrooms are all very large and the upstairs area is HUGE!. We would have extended our trip if time would have permitted, it was so awesome! We will go back next Fall and stay again if Kay will have us :) We walked all over the place and the 'Keag store was right around the corner with the BEST lobster rolls and broccoli salad. Strongly recommend you book this lovely, restful, gorgeous place!

This was our first trip to Maine. After spending four days further north, we spent four days at the coast. This house was beautiful! The views of the cove were amazing! I would recommend this place for a slice of peaceful relaxation!

We (three senior women) thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. There's so much to do in the area and lots of interesting things to see close by such as Birch Point State Park, Owl's Head Lighthouse, general store at Owl's Head and S Thomaston, and much more. The house was beautiful and comfortable!

Spacious home that was great for our family of 6. House was very clean with a well appointed kitchen and nice outdoor deck that partially overlooks the water. Kay did an excellent job of communicating and answering any questions I had promptly. House is located very close to Rockland (10 minutes) Rockport/Camden (20 minutes) and other surrounding points of interest.

Great layout and location. We did day trips from Port Clyde to the south one day and explored Rockland, Camden and Rockport another day. The beaches, state parks, superb seafood are all very close. The house was airy and breezy even when it got hot. We used fans even though there are AC window units in the bedroom. Very private setting.

Our family of seven had a great time at this property. The living and sleeping space was perfect. Having the AC and fans helped keep the house cool on warm days. We rented paddle boards and kayaks from Ducktrap Rental. Their price was half the cost of the outdoor store on Rt. 1 going to Camden. There are some things that need to be fixed such as nails popping out on the deck and more cooking utensils and platters. Because we ate in most nights we really enjoyed the kitchen. This is a terrific property.

Wonderful property for anyone that may need accessibility. My mother who is 91, had no difficulty using her walker throughout the house, including her bathroom!
The yard was amazing for games and dogs!
Quiet setting, fantastic sunsets and super swimming, if you dont mind tidal water (we loved it)!
Host was readily available to answer any questions!

Kay was a great host. Terrific location for checking out the Maine coast. Very helpful with shopping and restaurant suggestions. Maine Sports delivered a canoe for our use. We biked all over the area. Very comfortable beds! We will be back.

This is a lovely home with beautiful views of an inlet with changing tides. The kitchen is well stocked for meal prep. We were there in May so the cool weather kept us inside but an evening on the patio would have been lovely. Guests should be aware that accessing the water is from a dock and based on tides. The host is enormously helpful.

What a relaxing home and serene location! Close to Rockland and neighboring towns, while retaining a feeling of seclusion, we loved our stay. The beds were very comfortable, and the house was well-equipped with linens, kitchen supplies, and everything we needed to feel right at home. Communication with the owner was easy and helpful. A perfect vacation home for those looking to have easy access to town and local hiking/exploring as much as it is for those looking for a tranquil, beautiful spot to get away from it all. We look forward to returning!

The house gave plenty of space for family and friends to gather. The upstairs
was perfect for the kids while the adults had their own bathrooms and privacy downstairs. The view was beautiful and it was on a nice quiet road. It was the perfect central location for my family in Rockland and the little general store had some good food. The hosts were quick to answer with any questions and I enjoyed my stay and would love to come back again some day!

Awesome relaxing vacation
The house was awesome and exactly as described. My family and I had a lovely long weekend. The entire Rockland/Camden area was beautiful with a few very good restaurants in the area that are open all year (Primo and Fresh are a couple we really enjoyed). The dogs also loved the big yard! We would definitely come back again.
