I’ve been going to this hotel for years. The grounds are beautiful but over the years the rooms have just not been maintained well. It is sad because I love this place but it needs a facelift.

I can only complain that I did not stay here longer! I came for a spa day and a night in a resort closer to the airport (great location 10-15 mins to airport). The service was excellent and the staff made sure that my meals, spa appointments, and everything I needed was taken care of. The rooms were beautiful and roomy with a beautiful balcony with a mountain view. The value for the price is amazing, especially because the free breakfast was so nice. Traditional costa rican breakfast, and the restaurant at this resort uses fresh fruit, vegatables, and herbs from the garden. The herb garden is outside of my room I stayed in (I'll come back and upload pics). I saw the vegatables and fruit in the green house. The property itself was amazing to explore. The trails are nice and a little challenging if you have limited mobility so get a bamboo walking stick at the front desk for free. The waterfall was a little tough to get to the bottom but worth it. There are nice trails for everyone and none of them are as far as the map makes it look making nice, easy hikes with tougher options. The property and views were wonderful and they have a free guided hike if you ask the front desk they can add you to the list. THE SPA WAS AMAZING! Extra gratuities are cash only so bring some, I think you'll want to leave as littlle extra. I did the package with manicure, pedicure, facial, coffee body wrap, and an AMAZING lunch was all included. Oh, it also includes a 1 hour soak in the amazi

Excellent choice for our first visit to CR. There is no tv or radio in room….we did enjoy the quiet time, staff, view, and food was amazing!! Loved walking the grounds. Spa experience was great! Pools were well kept and the ability to drink the tap water was cool!!

Great property. The staff is great. Luis in the restaurant and Luis at front desk really helped us. It’s quaint and quiet - the sunset pool is warm and a gorgeous view. The location is great - close to airport and Poás Volcano. We did the hike on the property with the waterfalls and was beautiful. Be sure to check the timing of your visit to Poas so the volcano isn’t clouded over.

The on property hiking is incredible. There are both easy and difficult trails to hike down to the waterfalls. Beautiful birds everywhere. They let our nine year old granddaughter plant a tree for her birthday.

We have stayed here every time but once when we have come to CR, and that was only because I waited too late to make reservations. It is one of our favorite places to stay. I love the funkyness of the rooms and decor, the staff are always great. Food is excellent. The pools and hot tubs are excellent, especially the infinity pool. All the rooms have a great view of the city, especially at night sitting out on your deck. My only request is that they get TVs for the rooms, especially for the rainy season when you can't get out as much. Also being handicapped and not being able to walk the beautiful grounds like I used to it would be nice to fall back on some TV watching. But if you can do without a TV, this is your #1 place to go!

Wish we'd stayed for more than just one night. Stayed for just one night, so didntjave time to use all the excellent looking facilities. Did have enough time to wonder around the grounds and see the impressive waterfalls. Well worth the steep steps to go up and down.

Xandari is a unique and special place - magical! The grounds are extensive for a resort with a relatively small number of rooms. The private balconies are south facing with views and sunbeds. The walks around the estate take you through rainforest and along a gushing river to lovely waterfalls - you would never expect to find such trails in hotel grounds! The views from the open air restaurant were wonderful and the food delicious. We were there for just 2 nights and so did not have enough time to take advantage of the swimming pools. But we did use the spa - the treatments were lovely and the double outdoor rooms with hot tub perfect for couples. The location is ideal for a final few days of relaxation before flying home as it is just 20 minutes from the airport. Our stay at Xandari was a last minute change to our plans and we were so glad we booked it - a final taste of paradise before leaving Costa Rica.

Xandari Resorts and Spa was an excellent experience. I would highly recommend booking a few days towards the end of your trip as this is a great place to “unwind”. The property has beautiful hiking trails, a spa and beautiful pools. The staff were very hospitable and accommodating. Thank you Mario, Erica, Evelyn, Crystal, Joshua, Alexander, Nancy and the rest of the Xandari staff for making our stay here memorable. I look forward to visiting again.

This was an amazing last minute decision and I’m thrilled we found it. We spent 4 days at the resort and loved everything; from the amazing beauty of the property and the rooms to fantastic meals in the open air dining room. There are long beautiful hikes to take and we spent one morning exploring the 5 waterfalls trial. We came I the rainy period but had lovely weather with some thunderstorms in the afternoon. Excellent property and staff!

Xandari was more than i imagined it to be. I stayed in the Ultra Villa with the most ahhhhhmazing views. The place is very secure and the staff is ahhhhhmazing. I cannot say enough about Mario, Willy(gave the ahhhhhmazing history of CR), the Spa staff, house keeping, planting a tree staff, everyone in the restaurant. Im already ready to go back. Thank you Xandari and staff for making my trip to CR sooo ahhhhhmazing.

If you go here with your partner you will have an amazing time. For a moderate price we enjoyed the largest kingside bed an amazing bathroom/shower experience as wellas the incredible patio view. Very pleased with our stay here. Also the infinity pool was incredible!! Come here for a very private couples getaway. You won’t regret it

This was our first time in Costa Rica celebrating our 25th year anniversary. We could not have been happier with our choice to stay at Xandari spa and resort. Absolutely gorgeous premise people, and views! Everybody needs to come and stay at this location at least once! It is truly breathtaking. We will definitely be back again!

Staff was extremely accommodating and location close to airport and Central Market area of Alajuela. Property was clean and intimate setting. Therefore not busy/crowded onsite. Did hear some dogs barking but not enough to keep me up at night as previously saw in some other reviews. Room was nice and do not expect access to a television in the room. There are games and a television room available in the lobby area. Lack of tv did not deter my stay as I was able to relax and keep self occupied during stay. Resort driver, Luis was excellent and transported safely to destination.

Beautiful property on the hill overlooking San José. Rooms were large and private with views as well. Gracious staff. Luis welcomed us warmly and graciously. Trail to waterfalls on the property. Super cute goats. We had amazing views when eating a delicious breakfast and dinners while watching the birds and lightening storms. Highly recommend.
