This is an exceptional Bed & Breakfast. The hosts, Jill and Charles, are experienced and the house is the oldest B&B on Orcas Island. I've stayed in B&Bs in Europe, Asia, and the U.S. and the breakfast at the Kangaroo House was the best I've ever had. Jill and Charles are like professional chefs with their breakfast and it's obvious they put a lot of care and energy into it. That was a super pleasant surprise. My favorite part of the house was the relaxing front porch, which feels like you've been teleported back to the PNW in the 1920s. They have coffee available for most of the morning and I was able to relax on teh front porch and work with a laptop and coffee before adventuring out for the day. It is a lovely home and property with excellent hosts. My wife and I were telling each other, "we sure do get lucky with the B&Bs we end up in" while staying at the Kangaroo House.
Everything was great. We wouldn't change anything.

This is a great Bed and Breakfast. Jill and Charles are delightful and friendly hosts, full of helpful information about the San Juan Islands. When Jill saw us walking home from town, she offered us a ride. What we did not expect is that they are gourmet chefs. The breakfast was unique and delicious. The biscuits alone made the breakfast a success. The house and grounds are tastefully decorated or manicured with a large deck and comfortable and spacious front porch. The hot tub away from the house secluded among the trees was a special treat. It is about a 5 minute walk north with a close view of a Canadian island and about one mile from East Sound where there are restaurant choices and a full grocery store.

The food was wonderful and the owners were so personable. We really liked the location, central yet quiet. The bed was so comfortable.

The breakfast was divine. How they managed to get out-of-season fruit to taste that good is some kind of magic. During our stay they served bacon, eggs, salmon, quiche, croissants, pancakes, fresh fruit, and some of the best coffee i’ve ever had. Three courses, quickly served one after the other - plenty of food, but not an excessive amount. Absolutely perfect.
The house itself was adorable - sweet, comfy, vintage feel. The soft quilts and antique furniture made it feel so homey and welcoming. Coming here after a long day exploring the islands was more than a relief - it was heaven. Maybe I’m just overworked.
The hosts were kind and courteous, non-judgmental people. They made the environment feel very hospitable, and I hope they’re proud of the place they made. You can tell that a lot of thought went into every detail of this bed and breakfast. They clearly put their hearts into this place, and I appreciate that passion.
The rooms were pretty small, and I got the biggest suite. It didn’t really bother me though, they just seemed bigger in the pictures. They’re definitely rooms, not meant for families - but it suited me perfectly.

We loved the decorations and special touches through out the hotel. Each room has its own decorations, bedding and sheets are very comfortable. Our room was pretty big with a big bathroom. Breakfast was so special and unique. The owner makes her own delicious 3 coarse breakfast serving. The island is small and this place is in middle of everything. We will be coming back.

The hospitality and welcoming nature of the hosts was immediately evident. The place is absolutely beautiful, stunningly clean, and within short drive of the main town. The breakfast was PHENOMENAL and cooked by the hosts - I would've easily paid 30+ dollars if buying that in a restaurant.
Not Applicable - everything was incredible!

The owners were wonderful hosts. The location was great! Hot tub was raging hot and had a sign up sheet (assuming due to covid) for a time slot that ensured privacy/ social distancing. The breakfast was incredible, bed was very comfy and I had everything that I needed!

Jill and Charles were wonderful hosts. Breakfast was delicious every morning and when we told them we were leaving very early on our last morning, they told us that they would leave a "to go" breakfast in the fridge for us. They assembled a delicious travel breakfast including home made granola that far exceeded our expectations. It was so kind of them to do this for us. Jill even came out to say goodbye when we were leaving and to make sure we didn't forget breakfast.
There really wasn't anything we didn't like.

The hosts were super friendly and helpful. The room was perfect for 2 friends. Comfortable beds. Good shower with good water pressure. Thoughtful breakfast to go because we had to leave very early in the morning. Wish I could have used the hot tub.
I wish I could have stayed longer

Hosts were so warm and helpful. Beautiful, historic home was perfect to relax in. The several course breakfasts were delicious!
Our stay was too short!

Our room was pretty small and the bed was difficult to get in and out of at our age.

The breakfasts were absolutely out of this world. Any one of them i would ready again and again! Additionally, they were able to accommodate all of my husband's food sensitivities. I simply informed them of his dietary issues a few weeks in advance of our trip.
The location of the B&B was also perfect! We were able to walk into downtown Eastsound (1 mile flat) and at sunset, we would walk the other direction from the B&B to the beach watch the sun go down. And the location was in the middle of the whole island so no matter which end we wanted to go to, the B&B was always central. The location was ideal for all our needs!
And finally, the comfort of the B&B was just wonderful. The room was darling and had the best mattress. I slept like a baby every night. The spaces in and around the house were very cozy. The hot tub tucked away in the most private location in the garden was wonderful especially at night with the bistro lights leading the way to the hot tub. And let's not forget the B&B hosts, Jill and Charles! Such interesting and smart people ... And they are chefs to boot!
Oh, make sure they tell you the story of the baby kangaroo that made the B&B her home many years ago! Such an incredible true story! We'll be back!
That we had to leave!
I would love to go back with my children because they would absolutely love it but i understand the 'no little kid' rules...i know i appreciated the silence while at the B&B!
