Location was good
Hotel in general was very tired, especially the outside and paintwork. Room was far to hot, daily maid service was poor. Quilt cover had a hole in it.

The breakfast was excellent, good choice, well cooked and efficiently served. We did not have dinner there as we were meeting family for evening meal. Parking facilities were great.

location
no food apparently the hotel had been taken over we wasnt told that there would be no food available at night so my husband after working all day ended up going to the shop to buy a sandwich. this should not happen when you are showing pictures of the bar with meals upon booking.

Had lovely grounds with tables dotted around.
Very very tired and in need of upgrades. Uncomfortable bed, far too expensive for standard of rooms.

Quiet and convenient stopover on our travels across England. Easy to find from the M4 just outside a lovely quaint town with some good places to eat.
The restaurant was closed which is a pity as it would have been a nice place to eat. It was open for breakfast though.

northing !!!!
well there was no breakfast and the restaurant was closed which is not good and I can understand the restaurant was closed but no breakfast that was the tipping point for me and the beds where so uncomfortable.

The price of the room was quite low. Breakfast was nice and pleasantly served.

It was not made entirely clear that the restaurant was closed. There was an indication when we booked that it was TEMPORARILY closed, however it appears to be permanently closed. The whole place is in need of a makeover- old wooden windowframes, worn carpet etc. THe toilet paper was the cheapest imaginable; we know some guests at hotels steal them, but a better quality should be provided.

It was conveniently located.
The room was dirty. There were trailing cobwebs all the way around where the walls met the ceiling and more than enough spiders to share the room with. The windows were filthy. They have also stopped serving food in the evenings, which meant that I had to eat elsewhere. Not good enough.

The room, the bath, the breakfast
Reception staff on arrival not very friendly and took us halfway to the room before insisting we go back and pay first - my parents are in their 80s and were full of cold, this wasn't very helpful. Surely we could wait to pay if we're nearly at the room.

Room was okay (apart from the water issues mentioned below), the breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly.
No dinner available, which I didn't find out until after I booked. Hot tap took about 5 minutes of running to get warm. Shower seemed to be faulty, as there seemed to be no temperature adjustment and it went from lukewarm to boiling hot the longer it was running. I found out the only way to adjust the temperature was to move the taps, then close and reopen the shower plunger to get the temperature change to come through to the shower head. Not good. Also, the water pressure wasn't great.

Breakfast was plentiful, accommodating in choice, and welcoming staff who couldn't do enough for you.
For breakfast nothing, the room could have been a bit bigger, I did come across dirty tissues behind the bedside table whilst looking for a plug socket.

The room had no flushable toilet and and dead flies on the carpet. Obviously unused for a period of time and not checked prior to arrival. Not impressed!
After leaving the situation with hotel staff to rectify, they texted me at 1530 and advised that I needed to move rooms, as I was busy some distance away, I could not return to the hotel to move rooms but ended up doing so about 2330 on my return.
If you are in the hotel business it is normally good business practice to ensure the rooms you are leasing are checked and all is in order prior to the customer's arrival. This did not happen in this case.

neat and tidy … spacious
lots of wear and tear… will need maintenance soon… carpets in hallways worn through, lots of bits and pieces are showing their age…

I was able to park my car directly outside my hotel room door due to being at the end of the premises, which was very helpful. Plenty of parking. Hotel itself was beautiful and I was pleased to find coffee/tea facilities in the room. The shower was also very powerful which is a bonus.
The room needs some updating and a thorough clean, as I found plenty of spiders and critters in the room on arrival. Would have been handy to have a mini fridge in the room as there weren't many food options available nearby, especially on a Sunday morning.
