Very clean property that is fully stocked. The owners are lovely and stock the cabin with several brochures of activities around Bar Harbor.
The location is a quick drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor shops and restaurants. I highly recommend this property to families.

I really enjoyed my stay. I highly recommend the cabin. It has a forested location that is not far from Bar Harbor. The place was very clean with plenty of room. The surroundings were very quiet.
The owners were great. I attended church with them. They were helpful in every way.

The Kitler's cottage is a luxury house- with every comfort imaginable. We enjoyed it all! Walks around the tranquil neighborhood, many hours enjoying the porch, hanging out reading and playing games! We all slept extremely well- the beds are SO comfortable! Two bathrooms with separate showers as well- was a huge plus! A perfect place to stay! We did it all- biked the carriage roads, hiked cadillac mountain, sea kayaked at Hadley Point, ate in Bar Harbor- everything was so close! What a blessing to have found this property!

Perfect spot for a family looking to explore Acadia and the Bar Harbor area. It had everything we needed. We hope to be back soon!

This cabin was perfect for our needs. Nestled in the woods, but very close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. It was the ideal homebase for us. The cabin was very well appointed, and we cooked just about all of our meals there. Everything was super clean, and the beds were very comfortable. Great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The games, puzzles and books were a nice extra touch. James and Marilyn were fantastic hosts...welcoming, helpful and friendly. And the berry rhubarb pie was delicious! We spent 5 nights here, and left wishing we could stay longer.

Easy to find and well located about 5 minute drive to Acadia park and 12 minutes from Bar Harbor. The cabin is clean, bright and comfortable with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and well equipped kitchen. Located in a wooded area that is very quiet but close to a road. Owners are friendly and available (live up the road) and welcomed us with a home made pie. We were lucky to spot a red fox walking in the woods around the house.

It was a nice small place to stay while we toured Bar Habor and Acadia. Had all we needed for the week! Very accommodating. God Bless!

Childhood buddy and I spent a week in Acadia for a hiking trip! We were happily surprised at how nice the accommodations were. Our cottage was roomier then we thought. Private, quiet, clean and charming. Highly Recommend!!

The location was optimal, on the island yet away from the busyness of Bar Harbor, and close to the national park but avoiding the traffic from the mainland

We were very happy overall with our stay. We had plenty of space and the kids (4 and 2) had plenty of toys and games to keep them busy at the house. The owners answered the phone when needed and made us feel at home! We were able to use the house as a good starting point each day to either head towards downtown Bar Harbor (10 min drive) or towards the eastern side of the park (Southwest Harbor/Northeast Harbor). Plenty of restaurants and things to do in a short drive.
The only downside for us- no washer and dryer onsite- and the laundromat in town was expensive.

I searched for a long time to find a place that would work for my family. The two bedrooms and baths on opposite sides of the house were fantastic. I enjoyed reading a book on the front porch and playing games. This was a perfect home base for our adventures around Acadia. The hosts are so friendly, kind, and accommodating!

First time with VRBO, and it was perfectly great. We cannot think of a thing to improve. The lovely cottage was well equipped and most comfortable. It was a short drive to Acadia Nat’l Park and Bar Harbor. We enjoyed the quiet, wooded site away from traffic and congestion, with lovely roads to walk and enjoy ocean sunsets, and seeing deer pass by.
The owners, Marilyn and James, were nearby and checked on us periodically. They were lovely hosts, and we enjoyed their friendship . We were even greeted with a homemade blueberry, strawberry, rhubarb pie!
Delicious.
Thank you sincerely for making Maine a grand vacation that we will always remember..

p.s. it was also a blessing to get away from the Arkansas heat!

Incredible stay!
We very much enjoyed our stay! The cottage was impeccably clean and had everything we needed. We loved the front porch and had every meal outside. It was a super quiet, private property. We arrived after a very long day of traveling to find the most delicious blueberry pie in our fridge. Thank you James! The owners were delightful and made sure everything was just right.

The cottage is very clean, well kept and equipped. The Kitlers are gracious hosts (and made us a great pie) who are understandably enthusiastic about the area. Close to both park and town making it great location.

Everything was in order for us to rent for the week. We met the property owners upon arrival. The place was immaculate and was left spotless before we left. The location was close enough to Bar Harbor and to route 3 to tour in any direction. The home is up a small private way that gives the renter a sense of being remote. We loved everything about the home. There is a small family room plus two separate bedrooms and a kitchen. An outdoor porch gives the renter an chance to view the woods.

Excellent rental property!
My family of 4 had an excellent stay at this lovely cottage. The property was immaculately clean and very cozy. The host and hostess checked in to make sure that our needs were met and to offer their assistance if needed. We appreciated the excellent maps and guides that were available in the cottage. The book and game collection was very impressive and enjoyable for all ages and we are all enjoying books that we discovered while there or were suggested by Marilyn. The pie that James made was a delicious treat! The location was perfect for access to Acadia. Pictures and description accurately reflect the cottage.

We loved our stay at the Kerr cottage. James and Marilyn were wonderful hosts. When we arrived the windows were open to let in the beautiful afternoon breeze, and everything was neat and tidy. James even had a beautiful homemade pie waiting for us in the fridge! As I told the owners, the pictures don't do the cottage justice! Bedrooms are at opposite ends of the cottage, allowing for privacy, with small but very sufficient bathrooms. Plenty of closet space. The kitchen might not have every gadget or utensil you can think of, but it was more than adequate for the handful of meals we cooked during our stay. Plenty of light (even in the wooded setting) to keep everything bright and cheerful. One small drawback is the lack of room-darkening curtains in the bedrooms - when the sun rises at 5am through those east-facing windows, it comes right through the thin curtains and it's hard to stay asleep (although we were up early every day to get to the park, so the light served as a natural alarm clock!). We loved the fact that we were near the entrance to Acadia but away from the madness of downtown Bar Harbor - the location was great. There's an excellent ice cream place (Udder Heaven) just a couple miles away on Route 3, which has a fun putt putt course right across the road, I also really appreciated how the Ketlers provided recycling and composting receptacles! We had one day that was a total wash out, so we loved all the board games. We would definitely recommend these accommodations to anyone who wants to stay on MDI, and hope to visit the Kerr cottage again someday!

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. The pictures don't do it justice. It was much bigger inside than how it looked in the photos on the VRBO website. The fully stocked kitchen has pots, pans, bakeware, dishwasher, and even a lobster pot. The living room has a large bookcase where you can grab a book to read out on the deck while rocking in a wooden rocking chair. We watched a couple of DVDs on one of the rainy nights when we were stuck inside.
It was also nice to meet the Kitlers. They were lovely people and will make sure that you have everything you need during your stay. …. there was even an amazingly delicious pie waiting for us in the fridge that we devoured throughout the week. So many nice little details. Even, a coffee pot and fresh Duncan donuts coffee that we made every morning before we headed out.
The property is up the hill from the water where you can go down to Emery cottages and rent kayaks. Chris at Emery will set you up with everything that you need to do some exploring.
We hope to return in the future.

I stayed at the cottage for a week with my husband, our two year old daughter, and my mother and father in law. We all cannot say enough good things about our stay. The house was in a perfect location to Acadia and Bar Harbor downtown. It was immaculately clean and the perfect size for the number of people we had. But the real icing on the cake was the kindness of the owners! They checked on us when we first arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. As the other reviews have said, a homemade fresh pie was left in the fridge and it was DELICIOUS. I am not a pie person, but I ate several slices. Such a wonderful little touch! My next vacation to Bar Harbor I am absolutely going to stay here again!
