About this house rental
Located in Emerald Isle, this lovely house for R 6,538 per night is a great option for your next break. This classic beach cottage is located just one block from the beach and Bogue Inlet. Being so close (3min walk) allows for a convenient stroll to splash and tan ocean side or catch world class red drum while fishing the Bogue Inlet! From the moment you arrive at this 3 bedroom, 2 bath home it immediately evokes memories of the charming original beach cottages of Emerald Isle. The open floor plan kitchen/dining/living area is where most time is spent when not on the beach and it allows for a great place to gather and entertain friends and family. With two decks and plenty of covered space underneath you can easily move things outside, especially when the "Party Lights" are on downstairs! Dogs under 35 pounds are welcome guests with a pet fee. Bed linens and bath towels are included for up to 10 people so all you need to bring are your beach towels! The Master Suite has a queen size bed and its own private bathroom with shower. The Bunk Room has a pair of twin over full bunks which make this room a cozy and fun kids' space. The Queen Room has a queen size bed with lots of warm natural lighting. The hall bath has a full size tub but most folks prefer to use the outdoor shower after a long day of fun and sun! Books, games, TVs with cable, Roku, and a DVD player mean that even rainy days at the beach can be entertaining here! Washer and dryer are included as is a grill so you can have the amenities of home while on vacation. The Point is the area at the end of Coast Guard Rd. known for its quiet and family friendly/ neighborhood feel. Since the beach faces south, there is plenty of sun all day and you can watch the sunset over the water at Bogue Inlet in the evening! In addition to your beach chair, bring your bikes and ride the elaborate Emerald Isle bike path all over the island to find fun shops and restaurants. We love all of our beach buds and look forward meeting you!

Great location at a great price. This was our first trip to Emerald Isle (beautiful place on the Point). My Mom vacations there and it was her 80th birthday. She wanted all of her kids, grandkids and great grandkids in attendance. My kids/grandkids were set, but my wife and I needed pet friendly and we found Prior Engagement. It was perfect for our needs. The owners/hosts seem like good folks and they checked in on us to make sure that all was good to go. The fenced in yard is a fabulous addition to pet friendly as well.
My only beef (and not a big deal) and why I gave 3 stars to check-in and cleanliness has to do with the property management company.
I followed the check-in procedures provided by the owners/hosts, however, when I telephoned the property management number to check-in (in accordance with the check-in procedure), I was told that I needed an after hours check-in approval (check-in is 3 PM and it was 3:45) and that I would have to stop at the property management address and enquire as to whether or not an "after hours check-in lock box and pin had been provided". I said, "I just need the door code to the house". The agent got testy with me and informed me that I was incorrect. I said, "Ok, please text me the address of the property management office. Ten mins later, I got a text with the door code to the house.
As far as cleanliness is concerned, I had to wash pretty much every kitchen item before it could be used.
Not the owners' fault.

Love the house and location. Matt and Hilary are so nice and accommodating. Fenced in yard was so helpful for our little dog. So relaxing and the beach is so so close! Second time staying and we will be back!

We had a wonderful time staying at Prior Engagement. The home and location were beautiful. Very clean home with nice decks and a good sized, fenced in back yard. Very short walk to the beach. About 3 miles from restaurants and a nice Publix and other stores, so they were close, but far enough away that the whole area is very quiet and residential. Beach on the Point is wide and fabulous, and very uncrowded. My amateur photos wouldn’t do it justice. As a goofy aside, we’ve been in the market for a new mattress for a while, and hard to figure out what to get, and my wife and both agreed the one in our bedroom at the house was it. We ordered the top pillow covering already, and still pricing the actual mattress. Little pricey…
The owners are so nice and were very helpful with our questions about the area. Highly recommend Prior Engagement to anyone!

We enjoyed our stay and would rent this property again. The fenced yard was definitely an asset for our dog, although I would suggest putting mesh or netting around the fence because the pickets are far enough apart that small dogs can squeeze through and some pickets were loose. House nicely appointed, everything worked properly. Real good up to date TV, with Roku access, lots of USB connections around the house for recharging devices. Fenced back yard real convenient for dog. Porches, front and back, nicely appointed with good chairs. Nice, quiet neighborhood. Yes, we would stay there again.

Cozy beach cottage in a sweet spot! We enjoyed our time at Emerald Isle and the amenities provided, especially the bikes. Being able to bring our pups was the best!

Great house for furry friends and family
Overall the house was great. A few items to note - the kitchen could use as an edit. It has 2 or 3 of everything you could think. The beach is a block away but the beach to ocean is large on this part of the isle. It has table and chairs and an amazing seating area that we enjoyed every night. The grill was great.
Beds were great. The listing was spot on accurate with everything available as listed.
The check in was frustrating as VRBO sent a note to check in at 12 but it wasn't til 3pm. Very minor as it's correct in the listing.

The kitchen has older appliances and could use some new pots and pans but we founds everything we needed to prepare a Thanksgiving feast. We loved walking to the beach and seeing the dolphins too. The neighborhood was very quiet (in November) which was just what we were hoping for. The pictures matched perfectly as do the comments about the overall size being smaller. However, ample seating on the cozy large couch and porches in the front and the back really extend the space nicely. We had just the right amount of space for our group. I'd stay again!
